I've been reading Dan Simmon's The Terror (a "historical fiction" account of the british expedition to find the northwest arctic passage in the 1840s) and it made me realize just how uninhabitable regions like this were at that point in time. The least of which of these problems is traversing waters that often have 5+ feet of water completely frozen into ice.

So, I'm wondering if some element of ice-breaking will be in the DLC. We see airships, but is this the only way to trade with islands in the Passage? Probably not. Maybe special trade ships that can traverse icy waters will need to be built, or some kind of support unit that will need to be attached to trade routes so they can constantly be navigated as the ice keeps refreezing over the surface
