I've started playing the base game recently. I really enjoy the relaxed building experience and the game looks gorgeous. And while I know Anno is all about the sandbox game, I still enjoy having a little storyteller by my side. That's why I'm still at 98% campaign progression and postpone finishing it.

I know I haven't touched on a lot of the endgame mechanics yet. Is there a campaign among the DLCs that lasts longer and takes me further into endgame?

I think The Passage and Land of Lions are the main story DLCs, right? Is one of them clearly better/longer? Anything else you'd recommend for someone looking for a story mode or campaign?

Based on your post, I would definitely recommend Land of Lions for you, as it has been the biggest narrative undertaking we have done. You have the main story, plus three narrative islands/ quests hubs, including even some light rpg-style decision making.
