Does anyone know why they picked 31st instead of Aug 27th or Sep 3rd?

Just seems like strange decision to release mid week rather then before weekend when everyone would be able to play.

As LegoMaster87 has pointed out, Tuesday has been the standard new video game release day in the US for decades. Previously, games would often come out Thursdays in Germany, or Fridays in the UK, due to the peculiarities of the regional supply chains.

Now that we thankfully live in a glorious new world of global release dates, most companies have settled on Tuesday or Friday for their releases, with Ubisoft usually sticking to the former. And there is of course the old adage of “never ship on a Friday”, since you want to have people in the office if something goes wrong.
