[2021] The Siege of Paris, Cannot Spare King Charles

I have never posted here before so I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way.

I am at the Boss fight with King Charles and I would like to spare him.

I am supposed to be able to spare him by throwing him into the fires twice (which would take 1/3 of his life each time, leaving 1/3 of his life left so I can trap him) but each time I throw him in it takes 1/2 his life.

I am over leveled for the area but I saw other people do it no problem with around the same power level. I'm really not sure what to do or if
I can do anything at all to fix it!
