Freelancers, early launch is finally here!

This Megathread will serve as a place to discuss bugs, errors, and issues. These can include: crashes to the desktop, game freezes when doing something, issues loading the game, animation errors, cutscene freezes, etc. We will redirect the majority of relevant threads to this megathread.

They do not include issues with the Storm being overpowered, the Colossus being too weak, weak loot dropping from bosses, etc. Those are not bugs, just a feature™.

Also, please do NOT spoil people in this thread. When discussing spoilers around the subreddit, use proper spoiler tags. We will ban people using spoilers, either mistakenly or maliciously. To mark for spoilers, do so like this >!!<. For example: >!Owen is a cutie pie!< would look like Owen is a cutie pie, but all story discussion should take place outside this thread. Also, people may request [No Spoilers] in their own thread by tagging it as such.

When reporting a bug or issue, we encourage you to use the following template:

**SUMMARY:** Summarize the problem in a short sentence.

**BUG/ISSUE:** Explain exactly what the problem is, how it's affecting you, the game, etc.

**REPRODUCTION:** If possible, write out the steps that led to the problem in the first place.

**TECHNICAL INFORMATION:** Your platform, operating system, hardware, etc.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:** Include screenshots or a video here, link to them.

Just copy and paste, and fill out as much as possible.

Please review these updates from BioWare.

An Update from Chad Robertson, Head of Live Service which discusses potential issues that have already been fixed in the launch build. He also mentions their server status page.

Post-Launch Roadmap from Ben Irving, Lead Producer of Anthem. He also discussed how to retrieve your rewards for preordering or purchasing Legion of Dawn and also provided some clarification on things he said during the the last stream on crafting here.

Exceptions to the Active Megathread Clause can be granted on a case-by-case basis for posts including high quality discussion threads, PSAs, guides, informative suggestions, and some satire.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the subreddit's policy on spoilers, which you can find here. We understand the hype will be at maximum levels but still please follow our rules, be excellent to each other, and enjoy the game.

See you out there, Freelancers!

Just a quick heads up to all you Freelancers:

We have improved audio performance and fixed a LOT of bugs since the demo - unfortunately there are still instances of total audio dropout occurring which will require a restart. We have a significant fix for this issue that will be deployed in the day 1 patch. We are also working closely with Frostbite audio to address any possible remaining causes.

The issue seems to occur most often in heavy four player firefights in certain conditions, but it's very difficult to trap, and therefore reproduce to solve.

We appreciate your patience and are sorry for the hassle, we are trying very hard to get this completely solved as soon as possible!

Hrm. That sucks. We will try to reproduce on our end, we generally don't do a ton of testing with bluetooth but now that we have a *bit* more time we can start trying different hardware.

PC is a huge challenge with all the potential audio hardware configurations but we will try.

Are they wired or bluetooth? Could be a sample rate issue, that's usually what causing 'speed' issues (faster OR slower).

Bluetooth, it affects more than just gameplay. In cutscenes everything was slow (video included), to the point where if I'd not skipped I'd be watching the pregame part for a solid hour or so...

Do you have a headphone cable or are they bluetooth only? Dialogue is using audio as a 'guide' track so it would make sense that faster or slower playback would also affect cinematics.

I don't know how to send images through reddit. I didn't know about + can't find Origin audio settings. Could you clarify on which PC sound settings you're talking about?

If it helps, I'm using the Sony MDR-XB950N1 Bluetooth headset. It shows up as two different output devices, Headset and Headphone. Headphone is set as default output. Headset is set as default communication device. At time of startup, Windows Sonic for Headphones was on (not sure why it was, actually).

A separate issue I was having were audio hitches, but after I turned off Windows Sonic they disappeared.

I have heard a few instances of bluetooth causing issues when used. Are you able to test with an analog (old school) cable?

Also, was a bit hasty about the Windows Sonic thing. Still hearing hitches, but I agree that could very well be Bluetooth.

Yeah let me know if you can test on a configuration without Bluetooth - we just ordered a bunch of different consumer bluetooth headsets to try to track this issue down.

PSA: Please ensure *ALL* your audio devices are set to 16bit/48k. Switching between devices with different settings is known to cause sample rate issues (speed up/slow down/artifacting).

This includes Analog, USB and Bluetooth devices.

Nope not that at all! It actually looked like this in development:

Demo build ---------->cert----->release

Launch build --------------->cert------>release

Early Access build ----------------->cert------>release

Day 1 patch -------------------------------->cert-------->release

The launch build was always going to be updated, but it's important to get the FULL game to certification for Sony and MS to test in it's entirety.

So basically every chance we get, we prioritized the most important work and often had to replicate it up to four times to ensure the fix was implemented everywhere. It's a ton of work, with thousands of fixes/changes being added at each step. Does that help explain it a bit?

Complex certification process with first party I believe. Honestly that stuff is a bit outside of the work I do so I can't give you an exact reason. Probably because we want to maximize the amount of fixes and can only deploy so many patches?

Yeah, bluetooth and usb audio devices can change output sample rate - can you ensure ALL your audio devices/outputs are set to 16bit/48k?

Been playing the game for 12+ hours now and 2 of those hours have bee wasted bcuz i want to experience the story!

Trust me, I completely agree! We had a nightmare time trying to reproduce this at the studio and there are a host of issues that CAN trigger it. We fixed a ton in the day 1 patch and will continue to work on it until it's completely resolved. Sorry for the hassle, and thanks for toughing it out!

Your audio settings - sample rate, bit depth, output devices help - but we have fixed the most egregious cases in the day 1 patch. Sorry for the pain!

Well that's just fantastic mate. I'm doing the mission where you meet Faye and Haluk for the first time, and the audio cuts out 2 minutes in. Little did I know I'd be watching 15 minutes of cutscenes and exposition in game without audio.

Completely ruined the experience.

It dropped during a cutscene? That's new. Usually it's in heavy combat with four players - sorry for the hassle, we know it sucks. Day 1 patch has addressed almost every instance we could repro but we are continuing to work on eliminating this issue completely.

44.1 and 48K sample frequencies work, but if you go non standard such as 96 or 192K(I imagine 88.2 as well) then this issue occurs.

I hope this helps.

Just before the cutscene was triggered. From what I remember the combat had already concluded and we were flying to the next point when it dropped.

Rest of the mission and all cutscenes had no audio. Sucked because it was one of the longer missions with ingame and prerendered scenes.

Thanks for the reply anyway, much appreciated.

On a side note, may have another sound related crash. When talking to various NPCs and choosing a dialogue option you immediately get disconnected and thrown to the main menu. It's repeatable and happens with multiple NPCs.

Hmmm. That's not a sound bug, but definitely a bug. Can you give me a repro step order?

As sh*te as it is now, the best bet if audio cuts out is to restart immediately - it's a choice between losing a bit of progress and having to miss important beats - the timing in your case was particularly terrible and I apologize for that experience.

Summary: The game is completely unplayable, can't get past the start screen - Error retrieving Anthem live service data

/u/BioWareJer /u/BioCamden It's been over 24 hours since the game release and I haven't been able to get past the start screen. I've tried contacting EA Support, EA Help on Twitter and @@Bio_Warner as well, but no fix or any communication in sight. I've already wasted 5 of my 10 hour trial (I preordered the game, but only have Basic) trying to get past the start menu but the game is completely unplayable and I thought I'd tag you guys because I'm pretty helpless at this point.

The error in question is this one (Connection Problem: Error retrieving Anthem live service data). The debug file on the Origin folder says "WARNING:resource_bundle_qt.cpp(114)] locale_file_path.empty" over and over, but I haven't been able to figure out what it is. I've already reinstalled the game on two different HDDs and 3 different languages (some people reported that if you changed language the game would work, but it didn't), flushed my IP and my internet connection (multiple router and computer resets), reinstalled drivers, etc. The game simply refuses to work and I don't know what to do. Could you guys PLEASE take a look into this? It's beyond frustrating, I just really want to play the game and I haven't seen anything being said about this.

Technical Information: Windows 10, Ryzen 5 1400, 8gb RAM, GTX 1050, driver version 418.91

Additional Information: I've also encountered multiple instances of Unknown Error and Error Retrieving Pilot data. Please Restart Anthem. Safe to say that restarting Anthem didn't fix anything, but still. Oh, and I also had the 95% loading glitch sometimes, but I'm afraid it might be related to the fact that I simply can't connect.

Brutal. Posting to our live response team now.

Sorry for the hassle!

It's different for everyone however. On the EA Help forum people have made multiple threads about different NPCs which causes the crash for them. As of now you can't progress the story with affected NPCs.

Thanks, will add this to our thread in Slack for support.

Hey everyone -- Just a quick reminder that we love all the feedback, and we are reading it. It would also be super awesome for us if you all don't mind helping us by reporting any bugs you find with us at our Answers HQ, and if you're having technical difficulties or need game support, EA Help.

Obviously, we will continue to read this subreddit, but those places are the best to ensure we're able to track your issues and get you personal help.

Thank you!

Spoke with Frostbite audio - officially only 48k is supported. Anything higher can cause the mixjob to not be able to keep up at the DAC.

Sucks, but at least it's 'expected' behaviour from the engine.

I think they will be able to fix it - it's been reported a handful of times and seems to be related to entitlements being given by the server incorrectly. They are testing (as messing with your profile can break a ton of crap) - but I am optimistic.

SUMMARY: Framerate still poor and one bug found at the forge

BUG/ISSUE: As for the bug I've came across (and more than once), when my javelin is turning around so I can climb into it, there is a second, identical javelin that is already turned and opened that overlaps with the one doin the turning animation. Not game breaking or anything, just kinda ruining the look of this animation.

And second, Anthem has definetly been running better during my EA access trial than it did during the open demo, but I'm still not getting anywhere near 30 fps with the exception of when I'm in the Launch Bay. Have any other console players been having really bad framerates too or might it just be a problem with my console? And what could I do to improve the framerate (besides turning off visual effects)?

TECHNICAL INFORMATION: I play on an Xbox 1 S

Thanks for the information, I'll double check this one but I believe it's fixed in the patch on the 22nd. :)
