What happened to Wattson's fence nodes?

Somehow the update seems to have messed with Wattson nodes. Before the update you'd place the first node and could then place a second node which would be connected to the first. Now you just place a node. You have to look away and back to the first node to make a connection.

This entirely removes the offensive capabilities of wattson fences and makes quick covering of retreats unviable. Which kinda makes half of Wattson's kit useless.

This has got to be unintentional. I can't play Wattson effectively like this....
