The first thing I want to say is, I haven't played this game yet. I mean to say I am not part of the alpha tests or any pre-release stuff. Long story short I haven't touched this game.

However I have been hyped about this game for so long that I have almost finished reading the Ashes of Creation Wiki. And on that, is what I read of espionage and multiple accounts.

Apparently(and I'm not sure if I understand it correctly), Ashes of Creation allows a user to create multiple characters under the same account just like Guild Wars 2 ? And it is mentioned in the wiki that a player can actually join multiple guilds through these different accounts. As such, intelligence gathering and espionage through this procedure is considered legitimate. But isn't this cheating ?

If what I understand is correct then that way every player can just spy on two three guilds. Espionage should require specific real world skills of the players themselves. Inflitrating a guild as its member, collecting information and supplying it to our original guild, betraying a guild, everything adds to the thrill of a good espionage mission.

Is there anyway to know if a player has multiple accounts ? If that's the case then it can still be possible to devise some counter-intelligence and anti-espionage measures. Otherwise, if every guild just gets free information like this, won't it get boring ?

If this is not correct information, tell me. I'll delete this post.

I want to avoid being this nosy but seems like its the only way. I don't know what the developers were thinking before thinking this made sense. I can device plenty countermeasures if there was any way of knowing how many alts a player has. But I don't think that's the case.

One guild per account should be the norm. They have one Freehold per account but not guild ? Makes no sense to me.

With a guild size cap, forcing all characters on a single account to be in the same guild might not a great experience for everyone involved. We anticipate that some larger guilds might actually split into several guilds in-game, and it's possible that a player may want different characters from their account to be in different guilds across a "guild alliance."
