Not from sheer spectacle or what takes place. It's actually pretty run of the mill in terms of what you do. It's a persistent fight against AIM.

But there are a few elements it has that make it one of my favourite, and I wish more missions where like it:

Constant action: There's hardly any stretches of simply running across dead space. The fighting is continual in a good way.

The feeling of the Avengers being there to save the day: The characters talk to eachother a lot, Hank is engaging with the team, you save multiple inhumans, Cap gives orders and pushes the objective rather than Jarvis just constantly talking in my ear. It feels like the Avengers leading Hank's resistance and Shield rather than Jarvis leading the Avengers.

The buildup and payoff: The mission has multiple different objective types that follow a path through the map. Each time AIMs forces get larger, some of the biggest enemy groups I've seen in any mission, which makes the stakes feel higher and the threat more Avengers level. Reminds you of those scenes in Age of Ultron where they are holding off waves of Ultron bots. There is an epic bottleneck on the bridge where everyone charges to the final AIM facility, culminating in a fight against multiple Adaptoids.

But the icing on the cake is a cutscene at the end with a speach from Cap. Something that actually feels Avengers. Not Jarvis saying well done. Not a fadeout with a thanks from Maria or Hank on coms. A proper cutscene with the Avengers in character.

u/CD_PhilT this is a really good mission to look at for design philosophy going forward in terms of how it flows.

That mission is one that we built later on in the project, i was always really happy with it because it has a cool context and a good conclusion. I also have a soft spot for missions in our urban environments which are my favorite. Glad you guys like that one, certainly a goal to push in that direction for new content.
