This is a great mission, and I'm glad Square Enix takes accessibility seriously. As they rightly say in this news announcement for Global Accessibility Awareness Day 2020:

"This can genuinely make a difference - even if a game’s already out. For example, FINAL FANTASY XIV Online saw patches in the past to accommodate player feedback regarding color blindness and other visual barriers."

I have one specific question I'd love to hear an update on: are there plans for Marvel's Avengers to see these types of enhancements in the future, and, if so, when?

I know accessibility is an important topic for you and for us. I haven't replied to the other threads because i have been asking questions internally. I will do my best to give you guys an update on what's coming and what the state of accessibility is at the moment.

half a year of asking questions and not getting answers... we here are fed up with it... are you? where are you sitting on this u/CD_PhilT please tell me how you feel working with a company that ignores your questions for 6 months... or are you part of the problem? I wrote this game off a couple months ago so as a customer you've lost me completely on this game and any game cd touches. But I stick around because I want answers and to see someone held accountable for all the lies that have been pushed down our throats.

My stance is that i engage with you guys as much as possible. The information i get is either things i personally know because of my role or things i manage to get validated internally. Its not always easy to get answers because sometimes we might be figuring out If or when we are releasing something. Its pretty fair to say that accuracy in information is something that is very important, to all of us really. So i don't always get to speak about everything, it makes sense though. There's really no malice here, i go to several meetings where the community team is pushing constantly to give you guys updates. Sometimes we move too quick (See the XP blog) and things don't come out the right way. So in some instances, we take our time to get our facts right and make sure that you have context. I wish we would have taken more time to explain how that exp adjustment ties into a revamp of the progression system, i wish we could have explained why it matters for upcoming content as well but instead we only explained a little bit of math, without context and we could have done better. So! Long story here no excuses for anything but at least as much context as i can give.

We know we can and must do better guys. I know missed promises feel like lies but the truth sometimes its far more nuanced than that. We make decisions to scope or move things often and unfortunately if that happens after we announced something its not great for anyone. Please understand that the current caution is an equal measure of respect for you. It may not feel that way and thats where things could be better.

The information you get is things you know personally in your role or things you have validated internally? Surely that means as you had "news soon" 5 months ago that it has in fact been validated internally or something you know personally? So by that logic I can expect them soon right? Or is this just corporate talk trying to cover the company because they've been called out publicly for discrimination against people with disabilities?

One of the things that happens frequently in video games is called waterfalling. Basically if we can afford to make only 1 thing but we have 2 things we wanted to do, one of those things moves out to the next round of content creation. Sometimes a feature can be moved for quite a while if other things take precedence. Unless we outright scope something out or cancel a feature it typically lives in our planning. Depending on when i or anyone else talks about it, its release could have changed. We are trying to communicate only on things that are coming out in a known patch because otherwise all i have to say is soon and someone will make a delightful meme. All of that said i can promise you we have no bias against anyone, i am asking internally for us to circle back on accessibility and we do have some improvements coming but we also promised a lot more so its important to me we communicate on those.

This makes it sound like you were considering accessibility options 5 months ago and something else took priority? You are now asking to circle back which tells me there is nothing in the works. We are all well aware the game hasn't launched as planned but shouldn't opening the game to more people take precedent over most things if not everything? I'm trying not to get frustrated here but it feels like I'm only getting a response now and you are only CONSIDERING circling back because of the bad optics and the negative reaction. I appreciate you are just doing your job but this is a pretty messed up situation. Genuinely why weren't they in the game at launch? Were they sacrificed for something more important so you could hit your release date?

When i said circle back i meant in terms of communication. The communication i am trying to get to you is what's in the works and what isn't. I don't have all those answers yet. You are asking fair questions i just don't have a full answer for you at the moment.

I completely understand you have to walk the fine line between the company and us, I wouldn't and couldn't do your job. So as of now you can't even say if they are in the works? Hopefully you can understand my frustration as much as I can understand yours. I'm not a fan of having to be so outspoken and relentless. But you have to understand that after the companies inclusivity press the lack of options (especially at this point) is a massive oversight.

I understand, that is why i am here of my own volition. I do need to confirm what is and isn't in the works though.
