Just to clarify on the title, I know UK and Germany are Allies and Axis; I'm not stupid. What I meant in the title is that DICE view it as generic Allies and Axis or "red vs. blue" to quote them, despite overwhelming evidence in game that the Allies and Axis are subdivided into countries

I'd volunteer that the posts title is a little more distorted than that.

It's not 'DICE views it as', what has been cited there is my personal experience of how I approach the game when I sit and play it as a player, and I was happy to volunteer my perspective on that for the purpose of getting more out of the conversation with people that share a different perspective. I'm careful to highlight when I'm choosing to represent my personal perspective in the hope that this confusion doesn't occur.

I have volunteered that when I'm playing, I don't ever put any focus on the factions aspects of the game. I've only ever viewed them as Allied and Axis as my interaction with that aspect of the game is via The Company.

For extra insight - I have had the scoreboard disabled for close to two months now as I focus way too much on K/Ds otherwise, which others have since pointed out to me as an area of the game that differs to that presentation of Allied vs Axis, as Great Britain and Germany. I find that I drive myself mad otherwise hitting 'Tab' to check the scoreboard everytime I'm killed and I've personally found that's not the healthiest for my playstyle. I've found that change has helped me focus on the match vs. my own performance.

From my own gameplay perspective, I'm otherwise really never focused on the factions, hence my comments about red and blue. It's just good guys and bad guys when I'm playing at home and given how you're randomly assigned to teams I personally never put any greater attachment to them. I just focus on playing.

You're all welcome to continue to pick my brains about my experience playing the game. If we're going to maintain a good relationship of me responding to tags and questions and trying to behave as honest and open as I can with folks, then we're going to need to get better about how we choose to represent my comments, or I'll need to withdraw from jumping in. I'm not a fan of that idea.

if you don't put any focus on the factions you're playing as, wouldn't it just make sense to give those that do give focus on the factions some cosmetics that actually correspond to the faction they're (supposed to be) playing as? it wouldn't affect you either way, and in the end everyone would be happy

I can see that completely, and I think the downvotes came out in force yesterday because folks got a little tied up in my other comments which were designed to get that sort of perspective that you've just volunteered.

One of the examples I looked to throw out there last night was a scenario where I encourage the teams to do just that. Create a stack of true to WWII skins that provide and cater to that type of experience. However that would be 100% absent of the ability to control what the other 31 people on your team, and 32 on the opposing team have chosen to equip.

If I understand more about what people want, that helps prepare me for conversations later down the road.

My personal perspective on the scenario described here is that just making this type of content available wouldn't be enough to satisfy the people who care deeply about the games design. As soon as you leave pre-round, you never see yourself ever again, you only ever see other players, so I personally question the value of the change.

The suggestion is that adding simple skins that cater to folks who want them, would need to be even further supported by additional options that provides more control to the individual player about how every single other player is represented on the server. Based on peoples comments (and downvotes), that's evidently the preference here.

I can imagine how simple what it is the button needs to look like, the one that you'd want to be able to press somewhere in the Battlefield Options to enable such a thing on your client. But the actual systems and server tech required to action that click of the mouse, I can only imagine to be a massive huge stack of work for folks in order to achieve, meaning stopping progress on other needed changes, fixes, and improvements in order to deliver a cosmetic enhancement that caters to a core, but clearly passionate section of the Battlefield playerbase.

This is the sort of conversation I'm always happy to have with people. If it really is as simple as, just give me the personal option to do what I want with my solider, and I don't care that I'm still going to see 31 other people on my team who look different to me, I can work to find out more about what's coming and make suggestions about prioritization perhaps.

If it's a case of wanting more control, that's a much greater conversation and I'm going to need to have a lot more personal understanding to best represent you.

It the true issue is just a complete dissatisfaction with the direction that we've taken concerning Cosmetics/Factions, and the 6 months of content that has been produced, with a preference to see this 100% overhauled to your differing vision then we reach a much harder conversation that needs to be had with more folks than those who show up on Reddit. If we were to revert to a BF1 esque system of faction and limitation of the cosmetics, then we have to be considerate of a lot more people and their preferences.

There's around an another hour or so before I switch off for the weekend but I'll look to check back in on this thread later on.

Question good sir: where do I put videos of bugs? I've made a thread with two videos showing a new bug after this patch, but it didn't get noticed. So I like to put it somewhere that I can be sure it'll be seen by the correct people.

edit: it's not just me, my friend has it, and I've asked in game chat and multiple people told me they had it as well.

You already did the right thing and I've passed them on. Thanks for that and apologies for not commenting that I got it ;)

I love the game. Put 200 hours in it. My opinion on visual clarity is that AA is seriously aggressive. Would you happen to know if Dice are looking into improving clarity? Setting 150% res scaling at 1080p seems to help, which is seriously taxing, moreover, it still doesn't look as crisp as BF1.

Haven't a clue but I'll pass the feedback on

In that case could I also report that the P08 Carbine is still held incorrectly by default, you dont hold it by the foregrip like you should unless you are sprinting or ADS, so just standing/walking around with it or hipfiring looks goofy as all hell and im not sure how it hasnt been picked up yet.

I'll share that with our Animation team to review and ask if it's something they're happy living with. Good spot though, I hadn't noticed it.

Unrelated: While I may have differing opinions about factions, I actually really like your way of playing the game without the scoreboard. I tried it and I found myself enjoying the game more. So despite me being somewhat harsh, thanks for the gameplay tip!

I got the tip from BillyEatWorld. Lovely dude. He has some good tips on keybind settings too.
