[2019] I'm sure this was obvious to a lot of people but it took me way too long to notice that the explosive mushrooms are triggered by blaster fire and not by proximity.

I think the "explosive" mushrooms are triggered by blaster fire (as shown here), but there are also other natural elements that release poison gas by proximity such as the tongue-like one shown in the Community Update video
