Maybe we were going to but there were extra factors at play. A lot of the time when something isn't added the natural reaction seems to be "you idiots, why didn't you think of this?"

Perhaps we did think of it but for whatever reason, it just couldn't be. Thus is the nature of game development, sometimes you need to pick your poison.

I think the issue at hand is that instead of sharing those “extra factors” you guys just give us sass like “Poe’s home is in the cockpit”.

If instead you were to say “we were going to make Poe but had to go with robots that go beep-boop because we wouldn’t be able to get the voice lines translated in to all the required languages in time” it would go a long way (yes I’m recycling the scenario Dennis shared regarding the first BF2015 DLC, but you get the point).

Now obviously if the reason is “we were gonna make Poe but JJ decided to ret-con him into a first order spy in the opening scene of TROS so he would have actually been a Villian and announcing him as a villian in the CT 15 days before the movie release didn’t fly with Kathleen” you can’t tell us that, and that’s fine.

By all means, pick your poison, but when you pick sass as a response to backlash don’t be surprised when the result is more toxicity.

The "home in the c*ckpit" comment was made many months before we were even looking at heroes for January.

Some things can't be shared, nor should they. Ultimately, we are in the situation where we have chosen to go with BB-8 and BB-9E. They are coming to the game in January. We stand by this decision, we think they'll be great additions.

There's never room for toxicity, ever.

Fair point on the post date, I missed that, however the general idea of my comment still stands.

Just give us a little more insight, even if it’s broad strokes. Like when you said bb-9e was chosen because he fits right in with the rolling ball mechanics (or something along those lines). That makes sense, and it explains why you chose not to go with a different droid villain. I think the community as a whole really appreciates the glimpses behind the scenes in the development and business processes. How many times did you have to explain all the hoops you guys have to jump through to release a CT or even minor bug fixes? I lost count, but I don’t see nearly as much complaining when you guys get caught in the red tape these days.

But what you just said to me was effectively “deal with it, because I said so” which is the opposite of what I was suggesting.

On the subject of toxicity just wanted to say ever since you added it to the community survey a while back my positive interactions in-game have far exceeded the negative, and I’m all for that wholesome vibe.

Hang in there man, I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to put in so much effort on these characters and then get such a negative response before anyone has even had a chance to play them.

If we went with one droid, it felt like the right idea to bring a droid to the other side. BB-9E gives us the opportunity to bring some support element to Dark Side.

Good to hear :)
