For a long time now, cycle decks has been the dominating force in Top ladder and Competitives. We seldomly see beatdown decks finishing top 10 and even less for top 5 finish or higher. In my opinion, cycle decks are better in these following areas:

  1. Less awkward cycle. (since cycle decks often consists of cheaper cards, it is extremely easy to adjust cycles while also avoid being punished).
  2. Cheaper commitment that often requires the same amount of elixir from the opponent to defend. (For example, a miner balloon combo cost only 8 elixir yet there is very few counters that cost 8 or less elixir to perfectly counter this combo or take little damage)
  3. Stronger synergy between cards. You can find very little synergy between 5 elixir or more cards whereas there are tons of cards that synergize with each other. This lead to the fact that Cycle players can often defend more cheaply or efficiently than beatdown decks.

In conclusion, the meta is getting more and more unfriendly toward beatdown players. If you scroll through the top 20 right now! You will hardly find a deck that cost more than 3.9 elixir.

But the big question is--- How can we make beatdown user's experience better and make the game more balanced without harming cycle players?

Fellow Reddit readers, we need your support to bring this to the attention of u/Supercell_Drew .

I think Supercell needs to find a way to make Beatdown decks have a higher level cap. What I mean by this is that while Cycle decks are harder to master than Beatdown decks, Cycle decks at their best will usually beat Beatdown decks at their best (as OP mentioned).

Beatdown rules down in lower arenas, since Cycle players are not as good as their pro counterparts at 7k+. Cycle players at lower arenas are not experienced enough to use Cycle decks sufficiently to handle Beatdown.

However at higher trophies, the situation is reversed. Everyone is extremely good, so skill level is not the issue. It becomes obvious that Cycle decks dominate; Since everyone at 7k+ is a very good player, the discrepancy in win rate should not be the player's skill themselves. The only other explanation is that Cycle decks are truly superior to Beatdown decks.

One example of this is icebow. Tanks cards; i.e. beat down decks are supposed to counter siege decks. However, Beatdown players find themselves losing to icebow consistently. This is counter-intuitive, and shows how much stronger Cycle decks can be than Beatdown decks.

(I don't think OP explained why exactly Beatdown needs a buff, and wanted to clarify some points)

Anyway, please see this /u/Supercell_Drew

thanks for the tag. i think even the mere mention of buffing beatdown is always a risk but i think the point about how beatdown skillcap gets extremely raised at higher trophies is great.

thanks for the write up to both you and u/jerryCR-OP
