You can snag all of those items plus a tier earn-rate boost with that bundle, but this season we also have something a little bit different for players in select regions!
Ground Forces - Battle Pass Subscription
In addition to the above, this season we have a new type of Battle Pass going out in select regions only. The Ground Forces Subscription (AKA Battle Pass Subscription) is possibly a bit self-explanatory if you are already thinking a subscription-based version of the Battle Pass, but it does have quite a bit that is unique about it. Here is a quick list of that content:
- Exclusive rewards, like Manta Ray – Urban Explorer and the HBRa3 – Systematic Beat
- +10% Player XP Earn Rate
- +10% Weapon XP Earn Rate
- 3 Times Per Month – 50% Off a X10 Crate Pull
The subscription is slightly more expensive than a normal Battle Pass and with all of those added benefits. It is brand-new in every way, so we’ll be testing it out in limited regions right now, making adjustments, and then in future seasons rolling it out to more and more regions until eventually it is available for all players. Keep an eye out for more on that in the future and if you are in one of the selected regions please make sure to drop some feedback for our designers!
New Tactical – Storm Ball
One new piece of tactical equipment that everyone can get their hands on this season is the Storm Ball, which can be used for a variety of tactics depending on the scenario. This handy device projects a shield, similar to a smoke grenade, that blocks line of sight completely. However, it is more like a futuristic orb or shield that can be entered, fired through, and used defensively or offensively.
Storm Ball - New Tactical Item S1
For example, in objective based modes with locked locations, like Domination or CTF, Storm Ball can come in clutch by blocking line of sight and providing cover. Of course, no matter what mode in there is nothing more confusing than throwing a ball at your enemy, watching them lose their orientation, and then flanking them or waiting for them to exit the shield. We look forward to seeing some interesting plays with this, so make sure to grab it in the free side of the Battle Pass at Tier 14!
New Functional Weapons
On top of new gear to acquire and master, there are also two new functional weapons are landing in Call of Duty: Mobile in S1 and with one available right now and the other releasing later in the season via a Seasonal Challenge! First, the latest and greatest SMG:
PPSh-41
This classic and often requested weapon from many other Call of Duty titles has made its way to mobile! It is here to contend with the CBR4 as a prime-time spray & pray SMG that can fire out bullets at an alarming speed. That means this weapon is fantastic at close quarters and surprisingly decent at medium range combat as well thanks to some low recoil, less bullet spread compared to the average, and decent bullet damage drop off (compared to other SMGs).
The PPSh-41 can dominate while hip firing despite the wide recoil pattern, but the bullet spread in particular can be tweaked and tightened via Gunsmith and attachments. Similarly, like most weapons you can use attachments to try to push it in different directions, whether you want it to perform well at mid-range ADS or dominate with a mobility build.
You can earn the PPSh-41 right now via the Season 1: Heist Battle Pass, Tier 14 on the free side, or if you want something with a little fire in its veins then you can jump at the legendary variant in the Second Chance Draw! That PPSh-41 - Emberwing leaves only ashes in its wake and comes alongside the stylish driver Ether – Getaway. Whatever your preference, you can find that all in-game now!
Second Chance Draw & Ether - Getaway
Kilo 141
While the previous weapon is generally all about close range combat, the Kilo 141 aims to be your new reliable full auto assault rifle that you bring to any map with a lot of mid-range combat options. This weapon can still perform at close range but it is not ideal and at mid-range it is shining example of what scenarios assault rifles are generally made for with 4 shots kills and high headshot damage.
Similar to the PPSh-41, attachments can be used to help make this weapon's magazines last longer, increase overall damage, or make it more suitable surprise close range engagements. The Kilo 141 is not available at launch and but will be releasing later in the season through the Seasonal Challenge – Kilo 141 - Locked & Loaded. Keep an eye out for that one dropping next week and for more information about this new assault rifle through social posts & informative videos!
New Multiplayer Maps
Call of Duty: Mobile is known for being a “best of” Call of Duty content, whether is maps, operators, or weapons. However, what we don’t talk about often is how a fair amount of our new content is actually brand-new to the franchise, like one of the new maps this season – Nuketown Temple! This new variant arrives later in the season and so does Hacienda. Details, screenshots, information on both new maps below!
Nuketown Temple
This new Nuketown is a hidden refuge amongst a high-tech city full of culture, vibrancy, and festivities. Underneath this snow-covered new look full of art, lanterns, and Lunar New Year decorations is the same comforting Nuketown that promises non-stop combat throughout two houses and a viciously contested central cul de sac. You can quickly jump into close quarters combat throughout this map or take to the side corridors to hold down the alleys!
Nuketown Temple - Central Arena
While we know everyone is eager and excited to explore this snow-covered locale, it is not quite ready for the limelight and will be launching as a part of our Lunar New Year festivities coming towards the end of January! Keep an eye out for that and read on for more information (via the Lunar New Year events section) about what kind of events you can enjoy, explore, and celebrate later this season.
Hacienda
Another new Multiplayer map is releasing after Nuketown Temple and it is the lush and lavish vineyard that is Hacienda! This map comes on over from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, where it was a fan favorite thanks to its complex approach to the usual 3-lane structure of maps that meant you always had a way to flank or adjust to your opponent’s strategies.
This huge manor has two floors of close quarters areas to explore surrounding a central courtyard and then two outdoor areas that flank it. Head up, head below, or head around the sides on this large map! It’s hard one to explain due to the many different areas, so thankfully we have a video to help show a little of bit of each area below! Hacienda will be available to explore in early February.
Battle Royale Map Updates
One lesser-known part of this update is new additions to both the Blackout and Isolated! Snow has come to Blackout and the Hydro Dam area of the map alongside a mysterious new floating platform that is full of desirable loot but restricts what weapons can be used. There is plenty more hidden throughout this are and other changes to explore though, so get a look at them in this quick introduction:
A Glimpse at the Battle Royale Map Updates
On the other side of Battle Royale in Isolated you have some new additions to look forward to in the Ski Town area of the map, including a snowboard challenge that will be available there at the end of January! Most of these additions are available to explore and see right now with the launch of the season, but others won’t be releasing until closer to the start of our Lunar New Year Events.
Heist Mode
This new Multiplayer mode is available right now and brings with it a unique combo of objective based gameplay mixed with team deathmatch. Your team is tasked with collecting gold from safes on the map while also eliminating the other team. Each time your team collects a safe you’ll get 1 point towards a 10-point score limit. Additionally, you’ll also be earning gold (separate from points) to use to purchase weapons at the beginning of each round, similar to our Payout mode.
You can try this new Multiplayer mode out right now and available until 1/27 UTC via the Heist 24/7 Playlist! Make sure to try that out and check in on the It’s a Heist featured event to claim some additional rewards while trying out the mode, like AK-47 – Cityscape and Knife – Hazy Light.
Lunar New Year Events
Another celebration is right around the corner with Lunar New Year coming at the end of January! It is the Year of the Tiger, so get ready to celebrate this holiday through new maps, modes, a lucky draw, and many new featured & themed events!
Lunar New Year is Coming to COD Mobile
You’ll be able to earn plenty of Lunar New Year themed rewards through our Winter Wish themed event (the biggest event of Season 1) and much more. We’ll detail this all in far more detail in the next community update, but you can expect to see the following launch towards the end of the month:
- Battle Royale events and challenges
- Lunar New Year Puzzle
- Winter Wish themed event
- Nuketown Temple
- Red Envelope Confirmed (mode and event)
- Year of the Tiger Draw
- The Tiger Pact event (collection style event)
We’ll see you next week for more on that, but as you’ll be able to notice immediately much of the season is a mixture of both the Heist theme and also Lunar New Year. This season is meant to encompass both, so we hope you enjoy this unique mixture of visuals, decorations, and events!
Seasonal Challenges
Season 1: Heist brings another batch of new challenges for you to complete and with a variety of new rewards to earn. As per usual you can get a quick injection of Battle Pass XP through these challenges on top of many new cosmetics, but you can also snag some new functional items later on like the Kilo 141 assault rifle! Details on the first two challenges below and keep an eye out for the Kilo 141 Seasonal Challenge to launch towards the end of January.
Survival Instincts
This six-part seasonal challenge is focused entirely on Battle Royale with six tasks meant to show a general aptitude for this survival-based mode! This six-part seasonal challenge, to keep things balanced with one new MP and one new BR challenge to start the season, is focused entirely around Multiplayer! The tasks ask you to use SMGs, get kills while sliding, and get some wins using the new PPSh-14 (available for free in the Battle Pass). If you complete all of these tasks you’ll be rewarded with 10,000 Battle Pass XP and the following rewards:

Ranked Series 1
A new update has released and that means a new Ranked Series is here! Are you ready to take on the challenges of Ranked Multiplayer and Battle Royale Ranked once again? Ranks have reset a little bit, as per usual, and new rewards are available to earn as you climb through the ranks. Similarly, this is the first Ranked Series of 2022 so we’ve also hit reset and started fresh.

Check it all out in-game now and get a glimpse at some of those new rewards in the Ranked Series 1 video below:
Season 1 – New Mythic
It’s a bit early to flat out come out and spill our soul about this new Mythic Drop, but we just wanted to acknowledge that there is one coming on January 28th! It is a far different theme compared to all of the Lunar New Year content and is full of dark, demonic, and dangerous weaponry alongside the return of a fan-favorite operator. You may have seen her already in some of our launch art but get ready for this new Mythic Drop to herald the return of Dame!
Support Options
It’s another season so that means new opportunities for issues, so whether your issue is new or old please make sure to report it through our official channels or even just via community posts. Our teams are regularly monitoring both, so thank you to anyone who takes the time to report any issue (big or small) and in the end helps make the game better for everyone.
Lastly, outside of community channels, which are not great for individual bugs just affecting you (like a COD purchase error or account issues), our two main two official support options are below:
- In-game support chat
- Player Support Website: Contact Us

New Weapon Inspection
New inspection actions are added exclusively for some mythic weapons.

Balance Adjustments
Multiplayer
QXR
The QXR is relatively balanced after the previous adjustments, however, there are still other preferred weapon choices that come with better burst, endurance, and continuous outputs. To help QXR gain an upper hand, we have slightly amplified its burst damage in close range. The damage of QXR at 16-25M and mid-to-long firing range are also slightly increased.
Base:
- Increased third-stage range damage: 22-19-16-12 -> 22-19-18-12
- Increased the first period of range: 8m -> 10m
AMR
The long reload time of AMR has always been one of its shortcomings. We have shortened the tactical reload and the empty reload time to optimize the overall handling.
Base:
- Tactical reload time: 4s -> 3.4s
- Empty reload time: 5s -> 4.1s
PP19 Bizon
The advantage of PP19 Bizon lies in its long range and reliable TTK. The initial damage of PP19 in close quarters can achieve a lethal outcome, however, TTK appears to be inadequate when confronted. We have increased the damage ratio of PP19 hitting the head and chest in the first quarter range. Two consecutive shots to the head or one shot to the head and two shots to the chest can eliminate the enemy, thereby slightly increasing the upper limit of it.
Base:
- First range damage: 26 -> 28
- Head damage ratio: 1.2 -> 1.3
- Chest damage ratio: 1 -> 1.15
DR-H
As DR-H’s damage scales negatively with its range, a great advantage through precise shooting in the first two quarters of shooting range can be achieved. In the past few adjustments, the bullet spread of DR-H has been reduced to help players better hit the target. However, due to its smaller magazine drum and shorter firing range, other alternative weapons under the same TTK were prefered by players.
Therefore, we retain the characteristics of precise hits, slightly increase the distance of close-mid range, and reduce the reload time.
- Range increase in the first segment: 7m -> 9m
- Range increase in the second segment: 13m -> 15m
- Tactical reload time: 2.3s -> 2.1s
- Empty reload time: 2.8s -> 2.5s
D13 Sector
D13 Sector is an intriguing secondary weapon when used in confined areas. We hope that the characteristics of ricocheting discs can bring surprising outcomes to the game.
- Ejection times: 3 -> 4
- Ammunition: 1 -> 2
Scorestreaks
When using scorestreaks that need to be released by clicking on the mini map, if you cancel the use, you need to wait for a while before you can use the streak bonus again.
- Reduced the cooling time of XS1 Goliath after overheating.
- Advanced the aiming assistance of Hawk X3.
Operation Skill
Increase in Purifier’s firing rate, direct hit damage and number of initial bullets.
Ranked Match Update
Multiplayer
- Solo players will earn extra rank points when queued against premade teams of 4 players. More details can be found in Rank Rewards.
- The new season rank reset rules are slightly adjusted for the top 5000 players. More details can be found in Rank Lobby.
- The rarity of calling cards for top 5000 players are adjusted to legendary starting this season.
- Alleviated pre-made team composition mismatches during matchmaking. Chances of matching up with different team sizes is greatly reduced.
- Matchmaking bands during the start of the season are widened to accommodate for the lack of players in higher ranks. Solo players will be matched against players with similar or lower rank.
- Team Deathmatch/Frontline rank bonuses are now more dependent on personal performance relative to match outcome.
Other System Updates
Loadout Adjustment
Players can now change their loadouts while in queue.
Sensitivity Setting Adjustment
The gyroscope now has separate adjustments for firing sensitivity and normal state sensitivity.
Scope precision now has separate adjustments for the red dot sight and holographic sight to enhance player handling.
Jump Control Update
Added advance control for Jump and Climb in settings. If selected, players will no longer automatically climb by tapping on the jump button. This new option allows players to flick the jump button upwards to climb, which should avoid accidental touches during combat.
Battle Royale Medicine Settings
The medicine setting for BR health item recommendation, originally activated by default, can be turned off to avoid item switches in user shortcuts.
