Hello Exiles,

We are very excited to bring you an update which both improves core elements of Conan Exiles and offers brand new options which we know many of you have been asking for.

Update 2.1 introduces the highly requested new option of character re-customization! It also delves deep into crafting, weapons, armor, thralls and crafting benches and greatly improves and simplifies several of the old systems as well as giving you many new options.

If you are interested in even more details about this update and the reasoning behind many of the changes, please check out the latest developer stream we did on Update 2.1 on our YouTube channel.

Character re-customization

Have you wanted to change your character’s looks, hair or makeup? Now is your chance! Build the all new vanity mirror crafting bench and use it to change what before was permanent.

You can change your entire appearance in the vanity mirror, though judging by the pool of blood and implements on the table, it does seem that it might be quite a painful process.

The new vanity mirror is available to everyone, but those who own the new Isle of Siptah expansion are getting some brand-new options for hair and faces. These options can be used for characters on any map. There are four new faces for females and five new faces for males (males had fewer options before). There are also five new hairstyle options for male and female to choose from as well as seven new facial hair options.

New crafting benches

The update brings a whole host of changes to crafting. It introduces many new crafting benches, such as the alchemy bench, the dyeing vat, tanner’s table, tinker’s table and casting bench.

These crafting benches make it much easier to organize a myriad of different recipes and give you many new and cool benches to build. There are also several new tiers of crafting benches, offering high level versions with updated looks.

The new types of benches, and higher tiers of older benches, means that there are now a lot more benches in total. So now is the time to update the crafting halls in your bases with tons of new options!

Crafting benches are also becoming much more important with this update. Certain bonuses to crafting, such as speed, material cost reduction and fuel burn time are now determined by the tier and type of the crafting bench you have, instead of being determined by the tier of thrall you have.

Updated thrall specializations

There are thousands of different recipes in Conan Exiles, and one of the main purposes of the update is to simplify crafting and reduce the number of recipes. Tier 3 and Tier 4 thralls no longer craft Exceptional or Flawless gear and the recipes for these items have been removed. Most of the padding and weapon handle recipes have also been consolidated to further increase simplification.

So, what happens to your high tier crafting thralls now that there is no Exceptional or Flawless gear and the crafting stations grant improved benefits? Many of the thralls have gotten unique specializations which give bonuses to gear. For example, an Edgesmith grants weapons additional armor penetration, while the Bladesmith grants weapons a bonus to damage.

In addition, some thralls not only add improved stats to the armors they craft, but also increase the attributes granted by the armor depending on their tier. This will mean that the highest quality crafted armor sets now will buff their attributes (like strength, grit etc.) by 10 points.

Even though high tier thralls lost some advantages, the items crafted by thralls with certain specializations will be more powerful now than before.

There are many more changes in this update. Resin, which reliably can be gotten from trees, will replace ichor as a resource for stone consolidant.  Fish traps now require that you use bait to catch fish in them and the survival perk is changing. Please click here to read the full patch notes.
