Hey guys, I tried posting on the official forms and while I did get a quick response the solution did not help at all and they locked the thread.

Here's kind of the break down of our issue:

One friend was playing while that small update went out (13.03.2019), he updated Conan Exiles and tried to connect to the not updated server (I was at work and I run the dedicated server from my home) it threw up this error for him after already being connected (he was in the game):

Fatal error: [File:C:\UE4\CSAND\Engine\Source\Runtime\RenderCore\Private\RenderingThread.cpp] [Line: 959] GameThread timed out waiting for RenderThread after 60.000 secs

0x000000000000000

He told us in Discord he had just received a VAC ban from Conan Exiles immediately following this error being thrown up and could no longer connect to the server.

Some of our other friends saw this in Discrod so they tried to connect, some were able to connect and others got the same error after playing the game for a little bit. The people who got the error also instantly received VAC bans.

I was looking through the logs and when those people with VAC bans try to reconnect it throws up this error:

[2019.03.14-00.14.16:033][948]LogOnline:Display: STEAM: Ticket not valid - (STEAMID OF PERSON IS HERE)

Some notes about our server:

  • We had VAC and Battleye OFF from the start, Settings have them set to FALSE.
  • We have no mods
  • We all just started playing (and we all bought the game) during F2P. Most of us bought it on Sunday I believe
  • I'm using the Dedicated Server Tool
  • Some people can still connect just fine. I, personally, am having no issues

Here's the solution that was provided to us: PM from Community Support

Solutions we have tried:

  • Fresh Install
  • Using -insecure and -nosteam
  • Going to a new server (hosting a dedicated on someone else's PC)
  • Going to any server (even non-VAC secure ones kick them)
  • Talking to Steam about it, they said VAC is autonomous and they don't deal with those issues
  • Using their Steam account on a different PC (in case it was something wrong with their computer)
  • Talking to Funcom, the reply we received is above
  • Verify the files through Steam, on the server and the games
  • Uninstalled/Reinstalled Battleye

Something that sort of works:

  • For some reason, if they spam trying to join, eventually, it will let them in. Sometimes we have to restart the server for this to work. This usually is only temporary as it kicks them eventually. Either in minutes or hours, then we have to reset the server, try to get everyone back, etc... It's not a feasible workaround.

I have played with this group for decades, I doubt they would use hacks or anything. Especially since if anyone wanted to do anything like that I would have just given them admin settings since we are all close friends IRL.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have some angry guildies. Steam won't refund VAC-banned games obviously.

Other than that, we all love the game so... we just would love for it to work.

Hey there,

Just a quick FYI: Threads in the forums are automatically locked after 7 days of inactivity.

Also, there's a new thread in the forums that we're using to gather information about this crash as our devs are looking into it.

I had PM'd you directly from a response from the thread on your official forums.

I am one of the people with the issues, and it's gotten to the point where I can't join anything online or even play single player. It simply fails.
