I'm going to make this simple for reading digestion reasons, and because it actually is pretty simple what this game needs to succeed or should I say survive a lackluster opening week:
Chat/Voice - There is never a reason to not have these things, and in the situation where there is a technical issue that is causing the implementation of the feature to be stalled - there needs to be robust ping options until the feature enters the game, which there is not currently.
Hit feedback/effects/numbers - It just feels so weird, feels like the character isn't even there, feels bad man. When your character does damage or heals another character there should most definitely be feedback on multiple levels for that - I mean that's one of the main reasons gamers play games, is to become a character they otherwise would not be and do things on that character that they could not really do in reality - so when the effect of interacting with the world inside the game is ho-hum and anemic at times, it really disassociates the gamer playing the game from the character they are playing. Also, one of the only reasons why a developer would choose a 3rd person perspective for their game is so the gamer CAN experience and see the actual effects outside the character they are playing. Seeing the effects of your character in a MOBA-esque game like this is important, and it being in 3rd person, it further develops immersion that is really fun and intense.
The Flow of the Game - Something about the map being big, travel being slow, spawn points being far, objectives being few, minion PvE being too spread out and too bland - something about these things really make the flow of the game odd. I've been on winning teams, and I've been on losing teams. I am a Paragon alumni. I understand there is a ebb and flow to any game, this game lacks an identity to what the flow is. To make matters worse, when a game ends it just feels flat.
These main points are all approachable and fixable by the dev team - they've come this far so I think if they want to make the game better they will address these core issues. I bought a founder pack, just the same as I did with Paragon - am I a fool? Yes. But I am a fool that hopes that my money somehow helps the project out. I've given money to Kickstarters and stuff like that, I've ran them too. So I understand the struggle of getting funding for work that hasn't been done yet, and I get that this project was pushed out onto the market probably quicker than the developers wanted or maybe some other story is at play here. Ultimately, I have already gotten 40 dollars of fun out of it, so whatever else is to come for it, I welcome positive changes and changes that focus on core game-play issues.
Gamers are a very reciprocal type of people. If a game developer pays attention to their honest requests, and if a game developer/publisher understands certain needs must be met with a demand, gamers will see the good tidings and continue a stream of money to them. Look at Sonic for example, the trailer came out - people hated it, they said so, and they changed the design of the character and it went on to do really well even during a pandemic. The crowd is not always right, but sometimes it is, and this is one of those times.
