I went to the gun range a few weeks ago, and this is where the idea first popped into my head. Today I was cutting some wood and the idea popped up again.

Hey Relentless folks involved with the feedback and combat system, out of curiosity how much actual hands on experience have you guys had with various weapons? I know it's kind of a silly question, but really; have you guys all actually ever fired a rifle? Semi Auto, Full Auto (in some places) big rifles, shotguns and small arms are all available at some gun ranges to rent and fire all with instructors and safety and such.

What about melee weapons? Have you guys ever hacked at something with a sword? Swung an axe into something? Ever successfully thrown a knife and gotten that good good thunk in return?

How about the opposite? Ever been shot at? Paintball or Airsoft are way better ways to experience this feeling than traditional firearms, though many of us know someone who's experienced the latter. Ever been whapped by someone swinging something at you? Nerf swords, padded gladiatorial combat?

Maybe take a group trip to a nice big range. Hit up your local LARPers and get some melee combat under your belt. This is sort of out there compared to my normal stuff, but I think it could be eye opening, inspirational, and might even be a really fun way to get a first hand experience of combat feedback in real life, that might help translate Crucible's own a little better.

Just a thought :)

A few of our combat engineers and designers did in fact go to a range while working on Crucible - but the ideas of larping and other activities is a really cool idea when COVID subsides :)
