First things first, this is not an angry review or sh*t post, it's just an assumption about the future of this game based on my personal observation of other competetive type of games from the past.
The base game is easy to get started, especially heart of the hives is a whole lot of fun but the biggest strength of the game: the freedom in how you approach a match (since you could just run across the map like a chicken and occasionally shoot at stuff, what like 90% of the playerbase currently is doing) is also it's biggest weakness, since the core gameplay is heavily objective based and has a touch of MOBA- rotation, map awareness, risk and reward type of playstyle.
At this point it seems like there is no kind of matchmaking behind the scenes going on and this will lead a lot of people who currently enjoy the game and want to invest some more time into this game to frustration either way, because at some point those who invested the time to get behind the mechanics and strategies this game has to offer will get matched with chicken runner gunner or butterfly and plant scientists who spend 15 minutes running across the map enjoying the flashy colours etc. :)
Since there is no roadmap or mentioning of a coming ranked mode I'd guess this game won't survive long. By the time they could come up with a proper matchmaking there will be more fresh and probably flashed out alternatives in the free to play team based shooter genre. sry if this damped your hype...
