[2023] Is the new update going to make all ongoing games obsolete?

We strongly recommend against trying to continue existing campaigns after a major update. Even if the save doesn't crash immediately on loading, you are extremely likely to run into issues as the game progresses. We put those big red exclamation marks on outdated saves for a reason.

Fate of Iberia, for example, would load outdated games with no immediately obvious issue, only to consistently crash after a specific date as it tried to interact with a county that didn't exist in previous versions.

We'd recommend wrapping up any existing campaigns in progress before the update releases, or failing that rolling back to a previous version before attempting to load any outdated saves.
