So PHX Labs supports buying accounts?

The mental gymnastics it takes to make a post saying that I like a music video someone made meaning the company I work for supports account purchases is really quite impressive. Hats off my dude.

No gymnastics, it's possible you weren't aware that the user in this video is playing on a bought account! No issue there, assuming thats what it was.
If you look here you'll see the user in this video, 25 days ago, desperately wanted the Season 2 cosmetics.
Now this user is posting content and playing with these cosmetics. Now you can easily see how the connection can be drawn that this user purchased an account, unless you're saying she was given these cosmetics by PhxL.

Perhaps worth looking into, especially given a lot of players are starting to notice, and with a name like Lady Dauntless, it would be pretty bad optics if you guys were seen to not take action against someone when there's reasonable evidence she has breached ToS. Wouldn't want people to breach that now would we? :)

I am aware. In order to be compliant with privacy laws, as the data controller for Phxl, I don't comment on outcomes of looking into player accounts for these types of discussions as it requires me to look at account level stuff.

That said, more generally, I can think of a number of reasons that are far less nefarious than selling of accounts why they might have access to that content. Could be that they have a friend or coworker and went over to their house, perhaps a new relationship was made and they live together now. Perhaps they found their old account. Perhaps they didn't know they bought it earlier due to some form of long term memory related disability. Communities like ours bring folks of all types together.

I tend to default to trust and belief in the general goodness of people here in our community and do my best to find that goodness instead of looking for malfeasance. We're lucky that is the case in the vast majority of cases.

At the end of the day they love dauntless and are trying to share their love for dauntless with the community, similar to your feedback threads and balance discussions. My suggestion to you would be to start with trust, and embrace people who want to share their joy. If there is a deep concern that another member of the community is breaking the ToS, send a note to support so we can log it and follow it up with all the tools we have available.

That's fair, no hate there. Was just kinda irritating in a way, sorry if I came off as a complete dick (mostly :P)

Wouldn't that still be against ToS as they're using another persons account? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding that, which is possible, but the tos states:

  • Log into or otherwise using another person’s account;

As one of the things you don't do, so in your above scenarios wouldn't it be mostly irrelevant, given the name change to "Lady Dauntles" on this account with those cosmetics, you can draw reasonable inference as to the fact she owns it, not any of the aforementioned relationships.

Perhaps they found their old account. Perhaps they didn't know they bought it earlier due to some form of long term memory related disability.

Both fair and plausible points. I imagine in the former she'd make an excited post however. Maybe not, I'm not in her head.

My problem is, as you may have noticed a large absence of me in most places, I have been spending a large amount of time in another games discord, in preparation to play it. Unfortunately, that game is an MMO, with a discord of 30k members give or take. As you can imagine by the nature of MMOs, a not insignificant amount of people in that discord, and the community at large, are absolutely disgusting. As a result, my already low starting opinion of many is lowered even more, perhaps that's clouding my judgement on the matter.

Overall the annoyance to me is just how... blatant it looks from here. And the fact she's very clearly trying to make a name for herself, makes it seem... I don't know. Exploitative I guess?

Ok. I'll look into what's up next week when I'm back from vacation.
