Hotfix 1.6.0B: Reward Cache, Currencies, Daily and Weekly Challenges

DAILY AND WEEKLY CHALLENGES

We heard your feedback: daily time gates go against how you play Dauntless. Dailies should be a bonus on top after completing your weeklies, not a mandatory activity that requires daily login. To address this, we have upped the number of weekly challenges (from 1 to 4) and lowered the number of daily challenges (from 4 to 1) which will allow you to earn coins faster.

Example for clarity:

  • If you were completing every single challenge in a week
    • Before: 1 weekly (1,000) + 28 dailies (2,800) = 3,800 coins
    • After: 4 weekly (4,000) + 7 dailies (700) = 4,700 coins
  • If you were completing challenges 1 day per week
    • Before: 1 weekly (1,000) + 4 dailies (400) = 1,400 coins
    • After: 4 weeklies (4,000) + 1 daily (100) = 4,100 coins

Updated challenges to 4 weekly challenges and 1 daily challenge (previously was 4 daily challenges and 1 weekly challenge).

REWARD CACHE CURRENCIES

We heard your feedback: having 2 currencies in the Reward Cache was confusing. To address this, we have lowered the price of all items that required ancient crystals, and removed crystals from the game.

But what about the ancient crystals I already earned? Crystals and coins were earned at the same time, making them redundant. You'll no longer need them to buy Reward Cache items.

Example for clarity: You could buy the Elder Dustrobes armour for 2200 coins and 750 crystals, now you can buy that same armour now for 2000 coins.

If you purchased items from the Reward Cache at the higher coin price and would now like a refund of the difference, please write into support here and we will get that sorted for you!

The Reward Cache now only uses 1 currency (coins).

Removed ancient crystals from prices in the Reward Cache.

Armour skin costs have been reduced from 2,200 coins to 2,000 coins.

Weapon skin costs have been reduced from 1,400 coins to 1,200 coins.

Emote costs have been reduced from 1,400 coins to 1,000 coins.

Patrol keys now cost 400 coins

Crystals will be removed from the UI in 1.6.2.

OTHER FIXES

Power surged gear will now show the correct magnitude of buff in UI (+1 to +3 for example). Unique effects scaling correctly will be fixed in 1.6.1.

Fixed the DPS meter in the Training Grounds.

Yeah unfortunately that needs a client-side patch to fix, so it will be in the UI until 1.6.2

hehe yeah the way we got it in with no patch might require you a loading screen to refresh properly. Going to an island or back to ramsgate should display it correctly - but either way the actual purchase should use the correct thing.

Fixed an issue where initiating the Reaper's Dance ability while dodging knocked the player back instead of correctly launching them into the air.

This fix is in the next client patch (1.6.1), if that's what you meant. 😊

yup, exactly! We submitted 1.6.1 to cert on April 13 (live April 22), so the crystal UI change will be in 1.6.2

Just out of curiosity, what are you planning to do with the "soon to be removed from the game" Crystals we own (merging them with coins, convert them into Coins or just remove them)?

It is a removal of the crystals, however we also deducted the crystal costs from all of the Reward Cache rewards (and lowered the coin cost a bit as well). If anyone spent coins on things before we lowered the costs and want them adjusted we can fix it for you through support.playdauntless.com!

Currently crystals are still in the UI but that will be fixed in 1.6.2

They gave just enough info to get me excited and not enough to actually understand what was happening. Even with these new changes I can get enough coins to earn just over 2 mogs per week. That's 2/11 per week not including emotes and extra. So it would take 6 weeks to finish the cache. 6 weeks after release its time for a new huntpass. Now add in the fact that more items are being added end of April? This is all time gating and still a step back over all.

I'm not convinced this idea is any kind of improvement over the old system in any way right now. Would have much rather then leave the huntpass alone and release the rewards cache when they actually had content for it

Do you feel that way because the rewards are more "known"? With the Vault a main complaint was that it was unknowable when things would rotate in and out, and what those things would be, so I want to understand if it feels like we swung too far in the other direction?

6 weeks after release its time for a new huntpass

The Rewards Cache will keep having things added to it until the end of the season, which spans 2 Hunt Pass seasons!

Hey! The coins will last for the full season (the length of 2 Hunt Passes), meaning they will expire July 8. We will be adding more things to the Reward Cache throughout the season!
