I joined during Switch launch so I'm still relatively new, but I have killed every behemoth and have most of my weapons to 14 and my armor to 13.
I've spent around ~40 USD on the game thus far, and I have played around ~40 hours on PC and ~20 hours on Switch Lite. I'm not a whale, I just like supporting games I enjoy.
No Ragrets: Hunt passes, loadout slots, armor and weapon skins, headpiece accessories, dyes, arrival emotes, transmog stones.
I felt these were great bang for my buck/awesome QOLs/constantly present in gameplay.
Mild Ragrets: Middleman cell slots.
The middleman slots were great for accelerating the first week of gameplay. I try to think of them like purchasing tokens, ace chips, etc - just a "useful" QOL when needed. But because of its permanence, it makes me feel like it was a completely wasted purchase.
All The Ragrets In The World: Flares, sigils, banners, emotes.
Emotes/Sigils/Banners: They have cool fluid animations which I'm sure took lots of effort and time to develop. But unlike the previously mentioned cosmetics: I do not look at other people's emotes. I'm fairly certain no one looks at mine. And more importantly, unlike weapon/armor skins which are constantly in my face, there's no point in town or in gameplay where I can functionally see my own purchases. I mean, I can technically emote in town... but like, why? At the end of a hunt... also why? The screen fades to the score screen immediately.
Flares: I bought the cute cat and the cute turtle. I don't look at other people's flares, I look at the flame symbol on the directional compass. I have to remind myself to look at my own flares to get use out of them (lol). Again, nothing to remind me I've bought a flare.
Never Bought: Tokens, ace chips, hunt pass level ups.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyone else feel the same way? Not bashing the game, I'm still enjoying it very much.
