Heya Reddit,

I cannot understate how much I enjoyed coming back to Dauntless after seeing the new hunt-pass and find all the new quests and the Ostian repeater weapons. Not to mention the overhaul to all the existing weapons too.

Unfortunately this experience becomes completely sour when you first get to 'Elementary, dear Moyra". As a prior paid user (Open beta founder i think, cant recall) , I already had a full +10 Shrowd set and various other sets/weapons at +6, so progressing here didn't take too long.

After completing this you now have 2 sets of gear and weapons at +9, great start to begin progressing end game...Then they drop "Elements of Heroism" on you, and boy does that loot curve suddenly become painful to fathom. This is no stroll in the park, have fun and enjoy the experience. This is bash your face into patrols for 3+ days of "casual' play. And I got lucky with the recent refund to gain a storm set and most of a blaze/frost set.

For a new player this measure of blatant farming just forces you to really look at what you are doing. Its no longer 'Oh look at this cool weapon; wow, that behemoth looks sick!; damn we worked well to get that one down, great job everyone!'. Suddenly its this brutally honest slog to slowly drag your secondary gear from the ground up. Not a gradual thing you do on the side tho, just a straight out block to the rest of the game.

PL you need to reevaluate the questing progression at this point as this is enough to bore players from continuing. Please separate this quest into the 3 elements and have them as side quests, so you don't feel completely forced to 'farm' but rather make it a fun goal to work towards. Eventually one of those heroic Behemoths will challenge a player and they go ' Perhaps I should go get that blaze gear up now to make this fight easier; This Shock weapon didnt really work well against the H Nazayaga, might go build a Pangar weapon instead; My build doesnt suit these behemoths, perhaps a new armour set will help me clean it up'.

If that still isn't enough, the lower tier patrols are not enough once you get to the mid game. It might be worth making Dire/Heroic Blaze, Storm and Frost patrols so we can get a more substantial orb rewards to help this farming become less tedious and more structured, eg, low level patrols get you to 5/6+, Dires get you towards 8/9+ then heroic/Heroic+ get you to your 15 when your at that part of the game.

You could also consider making the dire and heroic patrols give an orb of the quality of the behemoth you fought, just less than a focused patrol, something like 2 or 3, that helps nudge players progression along just a little. Hell make it based on breaks and add that to lower patrols too.

Right now I've just finished getting a blaze weapon to 9+ and all I have left is the blaze set. Im staring at the game going, is this the best way to use my time? I have other games I paused to come back to this game and they are becoming much more appealing after the 10th Hellion patrol.

TL/DR - Fix quest progression and improve the rewards from patrols, otherwise people will burn out here.PS. Perhaps make rewards scale slightly with more slayers in party when in a patrol, that way people will join the queue's rather than prioritize Solo play

Hi! There are a couple of changes coming in the 0.8.0 patch that should address some of these issues:

- More of a focus on high tier behemoths for crafting high tier gear (eg: orb requirements shifted to heroic arcstones, etc)

- We agree this quest felt rough, particuarly on the heels of Moyra's quest and the requirements have been reworked
