The last few months have been stressful for me to say the least. My dad has been really sick and there was nothing anyone could do. It made me really sad. Trying to get me out of my funk my friend introduced me to this game. I wasn't sure at first but damn. I have been playing this game nonstop helping people in the discord etc.

Yesterday I got the call that I needed to come to the hospital. My dad was dieing. It was a lot to take in - I'm a young guy and I never expected everything to happen so suddenly. Suddenly I lost my father, my best friend, my support system.

I'm taking some time from work and as I sit here writing this waiting for a hunt to load I wanted to make sure I thanked the devs for making such a great game which has helped me through this really dark time in my life. Without this game and family and friends (who also play now) I don't know where I would be. The great community, the people I have met in hunts and my never ending quest for a golden crown. It helps so much to have something I know I can hop on and just make me think of something else.

If anyone ever needs help in a hunt feel free to add me RamenZord

I'm sorry.

Here's a story: I made a game with some friends (several of whom work here at Phoenix) called Dawngate. Prior to EA pulling the plug on it, we ran an open beta for a good while. It was a ton of fun, and our dev team was very close to the community. But the reason that I'm telling you this is because of the constant DMs I'd receive about how that game helped people through depression, loss, difficult times. Whether it was the gameplay, the music, the integration of storytelling into MOBA, or the gameplay itself, the fact that we'd made something that could help so many people beyond simply entertaining them was profound.

It forever changed me as a developer - I'm no longer capable of working on games that don't have heart. I'm glad that our efforts are giving you some comfort through this. I'm so glad that Dauntless is here for you.

Take one day at a time. Prioritize the things that matter to you, the things that give you joy and add to your health, and you will find your way through. There's nothing to solve, just life to live.

Be well, thanks for playing.

That's an amazing story. I've actually been working in programming for a long time and hope to work with a team on a game as good as this someday. I'm trying to my best to keep my head up and not get down. Clear sky's ahead and things can only get better from here. Maybe we can go for a hunt together some day.

You can put me in your backpack and carry meeeeee ...

Hope you like our next update. We've got some awesome stuff coming your way. Stay tuned!

I'm super sorry for your loss. I'm glad we could make something that brings joy to your life. That has always been my mission in life.

While grief and loss is turbo hard, be present for it, know that this too shall pass, and that the world is a better place with you in it. Take care of yourself. <3
