I just don’t understand why everyone is flaming over a launcher. The launcher is free. The game is free. Most people already have an account.

Some of the complaints I’ve been hearing are:

  1. “I can’t keep my name and I bought the founders pack”. Was the name the entire reason you bought the founders pack? Everything else you bought is still there. The only thing that’s different is a string of letters on the top of your character. Most people already have a unique enough name to transfer over; this affects so little people. I understand that identity and names are important to some people, but at the end of the day, it really is just a name in a computer game and nothing more.

  2. “Tencent owns a part of Epic and they’ll steal my information” This reason I’m a little more sympathetic for, but honestly at the end of the day, everyone’s lives will go on like nothing happened and the sun will still rise. Everyone’s information is already taken and being taken by a multitude of companies. Google has literally all your information cause you’re using their damn browser, but nobody is saying anything about that.

I’m not sure why I’m the one with the unpopular opinion. I thought that most people wouldn’t mind at all, but it’s clear that this isn’t the case.

Edit: I forgot to mention the cross platform gameplay. How is that still not worth the switch?

I agree 100% This game is so fun I couldnt care less what launcher I have to use. Dauntless made a tough time in my life easier because I could play and enjoy myself. It was there and I didnt have to pay a cent. I might need to change my name, but im still me. I love Dauntless and that wont change. I hope the whiners do leave because theyre cramping my style.

This really resonates with me and was a big piece of why I got hooked on a lot of games in the past, which is what ultimately got me working in games in the first place. Hope everything is getting better for you my dude.
