1012s | today's chapter as after a slew of |
1014s | really interesting and iconic characters |
1016s | coming into the fog we now have a brand |
1019s | new new original chapter and it's |
1021s | honestly creepy as hell it is creepy as |
1023s | hell and uh we love getting to work on |
1025s | these uh OG home brw chapters and I have |
1028s | loved seeing the reactions from the the |
1031s | community who've followed our our |
1033s | campaign leading them up to release |
1035s | today uh we had a ton of fun as maybe |
1037s | you noticed with how we talked about the |
1040s | chapter how we talked about what you now |
1041s | know as the unknown or New Killer um so |
1044s | thank you so much for taking that ride |
1046s | with us uh and today we get to take to |
1049s | launch yeah so with the launch um you're |
1052s | going to see the unknown which is the |
1054s | new killer that we know nothing about um |
1057s | then there's Sable Ward uh who is a |
1059s | Survivor coming in with a new perk type |
1062s | and then we get to welcome in The |
1063s | Haunting new map Greenville square and |
1066s | we're going to talk about all of that |
1067s | today in today's stream that's right get |
1069s | comfy hopefully you have a chair as |
1071s | comfy as this I cannot leave it I'm |
1072s | grafted to this point uh all things |
1075s | Wicked uh launches officially at 12:00 |
1078s | eastern time if you don't don't if |
1079s | you're not in that time zone don't worry |
1081s | it's right at the end of the show so |
1083s | basically a little less than an hour |
1084s | you'll get to uh play the new chapter so |

1106s | killer uh designer Nick to talk about |
1109s | the gameplay for both Sable Ward and the |
1111s | unknown and also some Inspirations and |
1113s | insights on how this unique original |
1116s | chapter came to be then we're going to |
1118s | move over to chase our art director uh |
1121s | to walk us through the haunting |
1123s | Greenville Square map and share some |
1125s | details that some players want to look |
1126s | out for and then we're going to see this |
1129s | all in action with a gameplay Showcase |
1131s | with three of our fog Whisperers and a |
1133s | couple of members from our team and |
1136s | after that we're going to be joined by |
1137s | our friend Justin to give you a sneak |
1138s | preview of our newest event that |
1140s | currently no one knows anything about |
1142s | blood moon uh that's going to be taking |
1144s | over the entities realm this spring and |
1146s | then after that we'll be joined by dbd |

1149s | show to talk about the great new |
1151s | Cosmetics that are coming in all things |
1153s | Wicked but also in Blood Moon as well as |

1289s | of all things Wicked so we're g to do a |

1340s | segment I'm really excited about uh |
1341s | joined by two lovely fellows Nick and |
1344s | Dave Dave's our creative director maybe |
1346s | you recognize him uh Nick making a first |
1349s | time appearance on the stream one of our |
1351s | killer designers uh and we are going to |
1353s | get into the creation of the two new |
1356s | characters that are coming with this |
1358s | chapter uh and it's something that I |
1360s | think is really cool about uh how your |
1362s | jobs work I couldn't do it I'm just I |
1364s | sit here talk but uh you know the high |
1367s | level creative like we we work with |
1369s | themes and tone and atmosphere but then |
1371s | translate that into actual gamep playay |
1373s | so that's what we're going to get into |
1375s | now and I think what better way to kick |
1377s | it off to throw it to you Dave to talk |
1379s | about the themes of all things Wicked |
1382s | yeah absolutely um you know when we |
1384s | start working on a new chapter an |
1386s | original chapter that is of course um we |
1388s | look into space that we have not |
1391s | explored yet and where we want to go so |
1393s | either in in gameplay so some sort of |
1395s | new mechanic we want to introduce um |
1397s | something maybe uh our fan base have |
1399s | looked into and is requesting or a sub |
1402s | genre of or we have not delve into could |
1405s | be culture folklore story anything |
1407s | really can go into the creation |
1409s | um and I remember that very early when |
1411s | starting this chapter uh we had a |
1413s | oneliner for gameplay we wanted to do a |
1415s | killer that had to do with like a |
1417s | Survivor needs to look directly at that |
1421s | killer that was an important mechanic |
1422s | that we wanted to play with um and also |
1425s | we were looking into analog horror and |
1427s | we thought that this sub genre of horror |
1429s | was a great fit for that type of |
1430s | gameplay so what about analog whor Drew |
1433s | you in what what connected for you with |
1435s | that yeah uh what we love about analog |
1437s | or is how cryptic and strange it is um |
1441s | it's very uded in its information um and |
1444s | you know everybody will see that through |
1446s | the unknown um it's also quite intimate |
1451s | in the way it delivers horror um you |
1453s | know it's all about you the user the |
1455s | viewer um looking directly to fear |
1459s | itself um in a very visceral way and |
1462s | also it's how horror is delivered uh |
1465s | it's very sustained it's stretched and |
1469s | so analog horror is really steeped in |
1471s | mood and atmosphere which is great but |
1475s | you also have to bring it to a video |
1476s | game and into game playay so so how does |
1478s | that work uh yeah for sure so it's um it |
1482s | was an incredible challenge uh for Nick |
1484s | and the team uh to create something |
1486s | along uh those line those pillars um and |
1490s | uh for us what was important is um |
1494s | exactly that sustain horror so this is |
1496s | something new that we wanted to explore |
1499s | we're used um to the the trailing chase |
1502s | the jump scare it's really fast and we |
1504s | wanted to go more into perception into |
1506s | see how long we could stretch that |
1509s | horor yeah so when we uh started uh |
1513s | working on the unknown we really knew |
1515s | early on that our ideas were about |
1517s | playing with the survivor's perception |
1519s | and like creating sort of intimacy |
1521s | between the unknown and the survivors to |
1523s | sort of make that dread like have like |
1526s | different levels to it we explored a lot |
1529s | of different past before finally landing |
1531s | on uh what we did and it was the right |
1533s | balance of fun mixed with that really |
1535s | analog horror Vibe it was a really tough |
1537s | little thing to balance and while a lot |
1540s | of stuff Chang along the way we still |
1542s | ended up with a killer that really uses |
1544s | survivor's Vision as a clear gameplay |
1547s | element because like devb said earlier |
1549s | literally sometimes the only way to rid |
1551s | yourself of the unknown is by literally |
1554s | facing it headon sounds like we're in |
1556s | another of my therapy session but let's |
1558s | bit focused on the game uh so obviously |
1561s | you're talking about the unknown our new |
1562s | killer so what the heck is the |
1564s | unknown yeah who knows it's it's very |
1568s | strange a very strange creature we we |
1570s | don't know even even us as Dev we it was |
1572s | one of our pillar to make sure that |
1574s | there are no truth about the unknown in |
1576s | in the image of all the creature from |
1579s | analog horror uh there's no definite |
1581s | explanation and um you know we want the |
1584s | players to do their own tior craft |
1585s | around it um what we do know is that you |
1588s | know it still needs an appearance in the |
1590s | game and we know that it's a hunter um |
1592s | and we know that we wanted to have a |
1594s | creature that mimics human to lur them |
1597s | but in a terrible way yeah so uh for |
1601s | game design it's usually helpful to have |
1604s | some truths uh you know cuz things need |
1606s | to exist and be perceived um in a way |
1609s | that we can all agree so the unknown has |
1612s | a main power and a secondary ability so |
1614s | the main power is called uvx and it |
1617s | stands for unknown Venom X um it's |
1620s | essentially a lob projectile that a |
1622s | trademark move set that every time we |
1624s | say it well yes if you want to do it |
1627s | with me at home that's totally cool um |
1629s | and yeah so the uvx is a lob projectile |
1632s | and it bounces off surfaces you can't |
1634s | quite hit survivors directly but after |
1637s | it bounces the projectile then expands |
1640s | and any survivors caught in the blast |
1642s | area becomes infected with the weakened |
1644s | effect so if you're hit by UV X1 once |
1647s | and you're already weakened you then |
1648s | start becoming injured so again like the |
1651s | first weakend is the sign of danger to |
1654s | come um survivors can get rid of the |
1656s | effect by looking at the killer for a |
1658s | set amount of time uh it's really as |
1660s | simple as that there's not a lot of |
1662s | extra steps to it either you can run |
1664s | away try and lose the Killer and trying |
1667s | to find the it later to look at it or |
1670s | you have to learn to adapt and Look |
1672s | Backwards during a Chase that's it |
1674s | that's all you need to do really and uh |
1676s | for the killer the cool thing is the |
1678s | more you infect people with weaken the |
1680s | faster you create these things called |
1681s | hallucinations around the map uh |
1683s | hallucinations are copies of the |
1685s | Killer's beautiful body and the killer |
1687s | can teleport to them at any point so |
1691s | okay so so players can mistake one of |
1693s | these beautiful body hallucinations for |
1695s | the killer itself uh which basically |
1698s | means that the killer can be all over |
1700s | the map at the same time yes so uh |
1702s | exactly so there can be up to four |
1704s | hallucinations can that can be placed |
1705s | anywhere around the map the catch is is |
1708s | unlike other teleporting Killers it's |
1710s | hard to optimize exactly where to spawn |
1713s | them while hunting down survivors uh |
1716s | they spawn at regular intervals on a set |
1718s | timer and when the timer is done you |
1720s | leave them behind without interruptions |
1723s | at the exact moment where you were so |
1724s | it's kind of cool as well right you |
1726s | don't really need to press any buttons |
1728s | it just kind of happens and then the |
1730s | unknown can teleport to any of those |
1732s | hallucinations and travel to them very |
1734s | quick uh in fact it's near instantaneous |
1737s | that's actually what was really fun is |
1738s | because the teleport has limitations to |
1740s | placement we could then make it |
1742s | extremely quick and payoff and of course |
1745s | the survivors can destroy new |
1747s | hallucinations and limit the Killer's |
1749s | power in that way going back to what |
1751s | Dave said about theme starting with a |
1753s | theme another thing that I think is |
1755s | really cool about the way the team works |
1756s | is the perks are not an afterthought |
1759s | they're built with these themes in mind |
1761s | as well and that's the case with the |
1762s | unknown right yep the perks are |
1765s | unbelievable um so the the unknown has |
1769s | three wonderful perks so the first one |
1771s | is Unbound and that's really about like |
1773s | the fantasy of the monster that has |
1776s | stocked its prey and finally sort of |
1778s | reveals itself and gets first blood and |
1781s | then like with that dread established |
1783s | like uses that to get so when you uh |
1786s | have Unbound equip you injure a Survivor |
1788s | and then the next Vault you do is going |
1790s | to give you uh some haste for a limited |
1792s | amount of time to help you get that down |
1795s | and put that Survivor on a hook um the |
1798s | perk is unforeseen and that really plays |
1800s | with the idea that um in analog horror |
1804s | technology is unreliable and like a |
1806s | source of misdirection um so B what |
1809s | unforeseen allows you to do is to kick |
1811s | and damage a generator um but it |
1814s | transfers your Terr Adas to that |
1815s | generator and makes you undetectable for |
1817s | a limited time so you get like the one |
1820s | two combo of uh becoming stealthy but |
1824s | confusing survivors around what their |
1826s | key objectives and lastly the last perk |
1829s | is undone it's all about the paranoia |
1831s | and how the unknown feeds off fear um so |
1834s | if survivors panic because they should |
1836s | it's a very scary killer and start |
1838s | missing skill checks the unknown turns |
1840s | that into a resource for the perk and |
1842s | the next time you uh regress a generator |
1845s | it will regress it more and lock it down |
1847s | for a set amount of time so cool and |
1850s | should be said whoever named those |
1852s | should get like extra bonus points |
1854s | because the UN unun negative bonus |
1857s | points for you for stealing my |
1858s | unbelievable joke cuz I was going to say |
1861s | that but they are unbelievable perks |
1863s | thank you Nick um so that's the killer |
1866s | that's the unknown but we haven't even |
1867s | mentioned the new survivor also coming |
1869s | in the chapter Sable so why don't you |
1871s | tell us about sable da yeah Sable uh she |
1874s | she's cool she's great very cool yeah um |
1877s | yeah to to talk about her um concept we |
1880s | need to go back to Michaela actually so |
1883s | um you know when we created Michaela we |
1885s | kind of did the Love Letter to our |
1886s | community she represented our community |
1889s | and what our community loves um and we I |
1892s | mean they resonated super well to that |
1894s | so we wanted to do it again uh you know |
1897s | that love is addictive um and we also |
1901s | wanted to go back to Universe of |
1903s | previous character that was already in |
1905s | the plans like instead of creating more |
1907s | and more universes new ones we wanted to |
1909s | go back and go more in depth so these |
1912s | two things come together Sable was |
1914s | created and we wanted to make sure that |
1916s | they both characters shared a lot in |
1918s | common but that they would also be |
1920s | distinct and be their own archetype of a |
1923s | character and so you know they both love |
1925s | horror they both they both love dark |
1927s | things um and they're a little bit |
1930s | magical both of them but they're also |
1932s | different yeah so gameplay wise Michaela |
1935s | and Sable share a lot of commonalities |
1937s | but Sable's power they come from a |
1939s | darker Place Michaela has moons so when |
1941s | we started working on Sable we try to |
1943s | figure out like how her power could |
1946s | manifest in its own unique way |
1949s | uh and so we decided that she was |
1950s | interesting in making darker deals so |
1952s | Boons have like a certain aesthetic |
1954s | element to them and Michaela uh and |
1957s | Michaela you know leverages that |
1958s | beautifully but with Sable we thought |
1960s | that making dark deals meant that her |
1962s | perks could be centered around the |
1964s | basement obviously one of the darkest |
1966s | places to be on any map in dead by |
1969s | daylight and in my house it's terrifying |
1972s | do not like going down |
1974s | there yes |
1977s | so so uh Sable um has three wonderful |
1983s | new perks uh so our first uh perk is |
1987s | invocation weaving spiders which is a |
1989s | new perk that that fits right at H uh |
1991s | with her so sabble has to put herself at |
1994s | risk uh and spend time in the basement |
1996s | performing a long channeling interaction |
1999s | uh survivors can help speed that up and |
2001s | once that's completed uh the payoff is |
2004s | that it reduces the repair requirement |
2005s | for every unfinished generator in the |
2008s | trial at once but it comes at a cost the |
2012s | person who started invocation um becomes |
2015s | injured and broken for the rest of the |
2017s | trial so it's a huge Advantage you get |
2019s | to affect the map at once but you're |
2022s | going to have to figure out when is the |
2023s | right time to do that uh Sable's second |
2026s | perk is strengthen Shadows it lets you |
2029s | self heal without a medkit uh everyone |
2031s | loves that but the offset is that it's |
2034s | restricted to the basement sorry it's |
2036s | selfcare but it's fast and only slightly |
2039s | more dangerous uh it's a great example |
2042s | of sable taking something bad like going |
2044s | to the basement and then saying you know |
2046s | what there's potential there let's do |
2047s | something good out of that and her last |
2049s | perk is wicked uh it's super interesting |
2052s | Sable's extremely resilient so when |
2054s | she's hooked in the basement she just |
2056s | goes nope and just unhooks herself she |
2059s | can she can just unhook herself as many |
2062s | time as she wants uh and then once she |
2064s | unhooks herself or she get unhooked by |
2067s | another Survivor |
2068s | uh or she sees the killer Aura for a |
2070s | limited time uh and can carry on with |
2072s | the rest of trial it's a great twist |
2074s | because if the killer doesn't know then |
2077s | that could swing a match in a survivor's |
2079s | favor at the last minute I love that so |
2082s | while you're getting into some some |
2084s | specifics how about some tips for |
2086s | playing as and against uh sure of course |
2089s | so as the unknown uh one of the best |
2091s | tips I can give is you're not a stealth |
2093s | killer but you need to figure out when |
2095s | you do not want to be seen by a Survivor |
2097s | during a Chase you have a range Power |
2099s | your power infects survivors and forces |
2101s | them to look at you so don't be afraid |
2103s | to pull back and threaten injuries at |
2105s | range or you know close in and try to |
2108s | injury with your melee weapon uh you |
2110s | have a lot of flexibility to how to you |
2112s | can chase survivors um if you figure out |
2116s | uh the timing of yourin of your |
2118s | hallucinations uh you can really start |
2120s | having huge map advantages if you know |
2123s | when to break Chase when to not look for |
2125s | survivors uh you know then that will |
2128s | really level up your game and uh lastly |
2130s | the projectile is worth mentioning again |
2133s | it bounces and Ricochet off surfaces if |
2136s | you master that and combine that with |
2138s | map knowledge you can get really |
2139s | creative and hit survivors without |
2141s | Vision so uh it's a huge Advantage um so |
2145s | when you're playing against the unknown |
2147s | one of the things you can do |
2149s | is look backwards it's the way to like |
2154s | Master facing the unknown if you learn |
2156s | to look behind from time to times that's |
2159s | the secret uh and it's like that Oasis |
2164s | song yes I know that reference clearly |
2168s | yes love Oasis and um and also yeah yeah |
2173s | yeah uh love Oasis and so you can |
2176s | destroy hallucinations and you should |
2178s | because he really cuts down the |
2179s | unknown's power please destroy the |
2181s | hallucinations next to generators it do |
2183s | it for me just do it for me don't |
2185s | hesitate destroy those hallucinations |
2188s | and lastly be stealthy uh when you're a |
2190s | Survivor and you decide to commit to a |
2192s | Chase against the unknown it's a lot to |
2194s | handle there's a projectile the bounces |
2196s | the blast area the teleports so you know |
2199s | try to always engage with the unknown at |
2202s | on on your own terms uh that's the tips |
2206s | that is the tips on top of all of that |
2208s | like have fun experiment that's what's |
2211s | cool about dbd there's a lot of mix and |
2213s | match happening there's a lot thing to |
2214s | discover and also if you face the |
2217s | unknown during the day |
2218s | don't look under your bed after midnight |
2222s | wow a gameplay tip I was not expecting |

2533s | welcome uh fantastic thank you for |
2535s | having me yeah well we're very happy to |
2537s | have you so I absolutely love this map |
2541s | um I feel like it speaks to me |
2542s | specifically I'm a big movie nerd it is |
2545s | a movie theater yes but maybe some folks |
2548s | aren't aware it's specifically modeled |
2550s | as a 9s movie theater yes so why don't |
2554s | you tell us a little bit about the map |
2557s | yeah I mean Greenville square is is a |
2559s | lot of fun to work on it is like you |
2560s | said it's modeled after like a '90s era |
2564s | movie theater um we really wanted to |
2567s | kind of hit that Middle America feel as |
2570s | uh as you know like this this part of |
2572s | the entity's realm is is modeled after |
2574s | Middle America like everywhere but |
2576s | nowhere uh the same time |
2578s | uh we were really leaning into the |
2580s | memories of uh of the 9s like that's |
2582s | that's for for a lot of us like uh we we |
2585s | recognize uh going to the movies with |
2587s | the 90s I could have used you a few |
2589s | minutes ago when I made an oasis |
2590s | reference oh that went dead died |
2594s | crickets just crickets sorry yeah I mean |
2597s | it's but speaking of oist we're going to |
2599s | lean some Nostalgia for this one it's uh |
2601s | we're going right into the 90s so if you |
2603s | if it leans into Nostalgia what was that |
2606s | process like with your team was it |
2607s | really fun and everyone kind of uh just |
2610s | tell us about how you approached |
2612s | building that yeah um so much fun |
2615s | working with the team on this um |
2617s | everybody has their own experiences with |
2619s | uh with going to the movies uh we we we |
2622s | tend to have an idea of what we'd like |
2625s | to achieve but then we we kind of work |
2626s | from the playability um of course this |
2628s | is a is a game so we have to consider |
2631s | all the spaces um so when you have a a |
2633s | theater you you kind of deconstruct all |
2635s | the different rooms um so we have the uh |
2638s | the lobby concession we have the the |
2640s | arcade the bathrooms upstairs screening |
2642s | room projector room and then all the |
2644s | outside space so it's it's a lot of uh |
2647s | parts that you want to kind of pull |
2648s | apart and then fix back together um to |
2651s | make the the most enjoyable space to |
2653s | play um yeah this is this is uh this is |
2656s | how we we we staged everything with our |
2658s | Collective Nostalgia right so you |
2660s | mentioned you got a team from all over |
2661s | the place so did they each remember |
2663s | theaters differently growing up oh yeah |
2666s | for sure I mean uh everybody had their |
2668s | their input from you know uh people that |
2670s | we we have on our team from South |
2672s | America I'm from western Canada so so |
2674s | I'm used to like Prairie town uh style |
2677s | theaters uh and then obviously here in |
2679s | Quebec so everybody brought their their |
2681s | own uh uh kind of flavor that uh that |
2685s | they wanted to to kind of see |
2686s | represented um and then the the best |
2689s | things that we agreed on of course were |
2691s | were uh that funky 9s Decor fantastic |
2695s | rugs the the carpets and then uh |
2697s | overpriced hot |
2699s | dogs the the moment that it clicked for |
2701s | me was when I saw the carpet it's it's |
2703s | so perfect and it's so like in the back |
2706s | of my sense memory I didn't even have to |
2708s | like yes I'm there spent a lot of time |
2711s | with the carpet I can smell that that |
2713s | carpet yeah yeah you can feel it on your |
2715s | feet yeah exactly exactly so good job to |
2718s | you and the team on that um but that's |
2720s | what I love about what the art team does |
2722s | with our Maps they get to plant these |
2724s | little details and maybe more so than |
2725s | any in this particular map there's a ton |
2727s | of little detail so what are some of the |
2729s | things that you'd like to call out that |
2730s | are in there yeah I mean details uh |
2733s | right on the nose like we we had so much |
2736s | fun working on uh the different areas uh |
2739s | for me specifically the the arcade was a |
2741s | really big one um I'm a big fan of |
2744s | arcades uh even going to them at those |
2747s | theaters you know we have uh we have |
2749s | that hybridization of uh arcade and |
2752s | horror so like uh um all of the uh |
2756s | artists had um had an idea to hybridize |
2760s | the the two so we have a really |
2762s | interesting space there going around the |
2764s | the the theater you'll see lots of movie |
2767s | posters um we have the the the |
2769s | entities's presence as well um we really |
2771s | wanted to kind of um bring what we've |
2774s | already known as the the uh the entity's |
2776s | presence into this map by um kind of |
2781s | having this melted Celluloid look to it |
2783s | so that when you look around and you see |
2785s | all these kind of like kind of melty |
2787s | looking holes like that's that was the |
2788s | idea behind it oh it's so cool and I |
2790s | think going along with that Celluloid |
2793s | bit is the the projection room is maybe |
2795s | one of the coolest spots of the whole |
2797s | map want to talk about the projection |
2798s | room a little bit yeah absolutely like |
2799s | this is this is kind of where the film |
2801s | nerds want to go this is concentrated |
2803s | lore and story this is where you're |
2805s | going to see um all the the the really |
2808s | behind the scenes um uh like movie |
2812s | theater stuff like uh this is where we |
2815s | have like the the Vintage posters |
2818s | possibly uh like teasing out uh new new |
2821s | games um we have a old school projector |
2824s | that's hooked up to the generator hit |
2826s | that generator it turns on the projector |
2828s | and then we see even more Easter eggs um |
2832s | the entities presence in that room |
2833s | specifically is also really cool like |
2835s | having that drop down it looks amazing |
2837s | yeah I love those touches especially |
2839s | like you said these drags to other games |
2841s | maybe within this universe very cool um |
2845s | but again there's so many details |
2846s | anything else you kind of want to out |
2847s | before we wrap up yeah yeah I mean we we |
2850s | had uh so much fun um specifically uh |
2853s | the the lighting um horror horror movies |
2856s | the horror genre is is uh very lighting |
2859s | heavy because you know you build a lot |
2861s | of mood and Ambience with that so you |
2863s | know you you move around the map and |
2865s | you're going to see specific lighting |
2867s | scenarios so you move outside the the |
2869s | theater you're going to have the parking |
2870s | lot parking lot we have cars lights on |
2874s | um uh Illuminating that area and then |
2876s | you move into into the uh the Green |
2878s | Space you're going to have the uh uh the |
2881s | statue out there kind of uh teasing some |
2884s | more lore you know having some history |
2886s | there um some Easter eggs located in |
2889s | that area potentially um and then moving |
2891s | out to the to the fence I mean like we |
2894s | have uh we even have some floating cars |
2896s | outside of that uh with light posts and |
2898s | trees kind of floating in in midair this |
2901s | is kind of to to signify this is kind of |
2903s | like where the the edge of the |
2905s | consciousness of the entity so it's uh |
2908s | yeah it was it was a lot of fun just |
2910s | lots of things kind of placed throughout |
2911s | the map that don't feel like they belong |
2913s | there which is is kind of like on theme |
2916s | and uh just to remind the players that |
2917s | this is this isn't this isn't your |
2919s | reality this is a construct this is this |
2921s | is created for you and I love that |
2923s | concept of like playing with how the |
2926s | entity's perception of all this thing |
2928s | all this stuff works it's super cool so |
2931s | great job to you and the team I'm think |
2932s | people at home would share that opinion |

4116s | a new blood themed event the blood moon |
4119s | event and we've got the blood rush blood |
4121s | hunt and Blood Feast which are some |
4123s | smaller blood themed events but this is |
4126s | supposed to be our biggest blood themed |
4127s | event so can you walk us through that a |
4129s | little bit absolutely so just like you |
4131s | said this is supposed to be on a very |
4133s | different level than all of those others |
4135s | but we're taking the core idea of those |
4137s | which is earning massive amounts of |
4138s | blood points and amplifying it even |
4141s | further so if you like blood points |
4142s | you're going to like this events when |
4145s | the team started brainstorming on this a |
4147s | while back we we were trying to figure |
4148s | out what the theme of our new event |
4150s | should be and we realized we never |
4153s | actually had a big one that was just |
4155s | about blood we're a horror game we've |
4158s | had the the blood rush we've had blood |
4160s | hunts yes but nothing to really get |
4163s | blood all all in in the matches no you |
4165s | know to to soak the trials in blood so |
4168s | we decided it was about time which |
4170s | brings us to our blood moon event that |
4171s | we're talking about today all right and |
4174s | with this new event that's kind of |
4176s | coming in what is it about the blood |
4178s | moon event that really sets it apart |
4179s | from the others so like I said not just |
4182s | the multiplier this is a full event so |
4184s | we've got a visual overhaul unique |
4186s | gameplay a community element and event |
4189s | home so there's tons of challenges to |
4190s | play plus some very awesome rewards that |
4193s | I can't wait for players to see later |
4196s | at its core we really just wanted to |
4198s | create an a event where every spring you |
4202s | know the blood moon is rising in the |
4204s | entity's realm and it basically rains |
4206s | blood points on our players we want this |
4208s | to hands down be the best moment for |
4210s | earning blood points of the year every |
4213s | year all right well that honestly sounds |
4215s | awesome but I think we need to know a |
4217s | bit more about how it works sure so in |
4221s | matches during the the the blood moon |
4223s | event players are going to find droplets |
4225s | that they can accumulate and then spend |
4228s | to create blood basins once a blood |
4230s | Basin is created a blood zone is then |
4232s | going to spawn for you quite a large |
4235s | radius and both roles are going to be |
4238s | able to interact with this in some way |
4240s | and and now I must say that there's a |
4242s | period of protection so after a blood |
4244s | zone is created the opposing role will |
4246s | be able to destroy it once that |
4248s | protection period is gone but while the |
4251s | blood zone is there killers are going to |
4254s | get an increased attack lunge distance |
4256s | so they're going to be able to attack |
4257s | even a little bit further but that comes |
4259s | at the cost of having an extended cool |
4261s | down where you got to really wipe all |
4263s | that extra blood off your blade you got |
4265s | to keep it clean in the blood moon event |
4268s | uh for survivors they're going to have |
4270s | their grunts of pain reduced and their |
4272s | pools of blood are going to actually |
4273s | disappear even faster while in the blood |
4275s | zone now if a Survivor is crouched you |
4278s | know that's going to be even more you |
4279s | know the grants of pain are going to be |
4280s | reduced further and the pools of blood |
4282s | will disappear even faster nice like I |
4285s | said the blood Zone pool the blood zone |
4287s | areas are going to be really huge so as |
4289s | you progress through a mash you're going |
4291s | to be running into them fairly often as |
4293s | more and more keep on getting generated |
4296s | what's really cool though is for the |
4298s | person who creates the blood Zone |
4300s | they're going to get these benefits map |
4302s | wide so long as the blood zone is |
4304s | protected which is going to be fantastic |
4307s | um and no matter who you are you know |
4309s | Survivor or killer everyone is going to |
4311s | get extra blood points for actions taken |
4313s | within a blood Zone then if a player has |
4316s | used the bloodshot eye offering those |
4318s | blood points are boosted even further |
4321s | it's all about blood points I'm really |
4323s | looking forward to getting into a trial |
4325s | with this I I'm like so stoked right now |
4329s | so just kind of tapping into that |
4331s | because you were saying that collecting |
4332s | blood points is going to be a really big |
4334s | part of this event um what does that |
4336s | look like for players so like recent |
4340s | events blood moon has its own event |
4341s | toone with two level levels of |
4343s | challenges but what really sets it apart |
4345s | from all those other ones is what we |
4347s | call our blood Seekers Community |
4349s | challenge objective that's going to |
4351s | create a community-driven bloodpoint |
4353s | multiplier that is being continuously |
4355s | increased as players perform blood moon |
4357s | related actions which is creating blood |
4360s | zones so the higher the progression the |
4362s | bigger the blood Point bonus is for |
4364s | everybody and we're going to be maxing |
4366s | this out at a pretty high multiplier So |
4369s | the faster the community hits that |
4370s | threshold the more everyone gets out of |
4372s | the event okay well you know I love me |
4375s | some community goals I'm really looking |
4376s | forward to this one but correct me if I |
4378s | wrong we are also adding a new special |
4381s | item just for survivors right yeah every |
4384s | event that we do we try to see what new |
4386s | items we can add that are meaningful for |
4388s | the event so this time around we've |
4390s | created what we call the blood sense map |
4393s | so when a Survivor is using this it will |
4395s | show you whoever is bleeding across the |
4397s | entire map you'll see the aura of you |
4400s | know all the injured survivors but it |
4402s | requires a sacrifice when using the |
4404s | blood sense map you you also create |
4406s | pools of blood around you so it's a nice |
4408s | little bit of risk reward involved all |
4411s | right and you were talking about kind of |
4413s | rewards I did see some of the outfits |
4415s | that are kind of coming in and they |
4417s | honestly look like they've already got |
4418s | their style like really nailed down for |
4420s | this event yeah honestly the art team |
4422s | has crushed it this time uh this |
4425s | collection is amazing the main |
4427s | attraction is all these event rewards |
4429s | and we're extremely happy with the ones |
4431s | that we're actually having as outfits |
4434s | that you can earn from the event so |
4436s | that's going to be outfits for El and |
4439s | the Oni um you know they're fantastic |
4441s | and Lea will be along in the next |
4442s | segment to show these off and some more |
4445s | from the blood moon collection because |
4447s | it's it's such a good collection we you |
4449s | know couldn't let it go to waste all |
4451s | right I'm I like especially for the only |
4453s | one I'm really looking forward to |
4454s | running away from him um but Justin uh |
4457s | this has all been amazing but is there |
4459s | anything else that you can leave us with |
4462s | for sure so the moment players log the |
4464s | blood moon event going to notice that |
4466s | this Lobby is |
4468s | jawdropping uh I think any Dev that has |
4470s | booted it up during play test has had |
4472s | extremely positive comments about it uh |
4474s | as soon as they get in the red blood |
4476s | moon and all the details give it a very |
4478s | otherworldly Vibe it it really takes |
4481s | players out of the forest that they're |
4482s | they're used to seeing and makes it feel |
4484s | like you're on another planet of |
4487s | blood uh then the trials themselves also |
4489s | have a lot of event elements to them |
4492s | like themed hooks generators uh and more |
4495s | that have been Touch by the effects of |
4497s | the blood moon now this is our first |
4500s | instance of the blood moon event um and |
4502s | we are excited on using it as building |
4504s | blocks for the future so we do want to |
4507s | eventually get it to the same level as |
4508s | bone shill haunted by daylight and |
4510s | twisted masquerade so if you think this |
4513s | is cool until next year uh and just to |
4517s | cap off all all the cool stuff I wanted |
4518s | to add a quick note on accessibility so |
4521s | we know red can be challenging for our |
4523s | color blind players so we've taken some |
4525s | time to really ensure that the color |
4527s | blind mode provides additional contrast |
4530s | to all of our new effects in this event |
4532s | so everyone can have the same chance to |

4708s | Wicked collection that's coming into the |
4710s | game as well as the slipnot collection |

4731s | this was such a fun collection and it |
4733s | really revolved around the I the |
4735s | question can we turn blood into clothing |
4739s | we wanted these outfits to Showcase who |
4740s | these characters would be if they're |
4742s | absolutely blood |
4743s | obsessed we have Michaela reimagined and |
4747s | transformed into a blood witch with her |
4749s | blood magic outfit and the skull |
4751s | Merchant still retains her dangerous |
4754s | Elegance that she's known for but her |
4756s | Scarlet Vengeance collection makes it |
4757s | clear that her blood lust has turned |
4759s | into a full-on blood |
4761s | Obsession and the gamblers rush outf it |
4763s | is still Ace um |
4765s | he's himself with his deck of cards and |
4767s | he's got his funky hairstyle but he's |
4770s | got more likely than ever to bet big on |
4773s | red and finally we have the doctor's |
4776s | blood shock outfit which has made him |
4779s | reliant on these vials of blood all |
4781s | attached all over his body to power |
4783s | himself and those are the outfits in the |
4786s | store collection but we have two free |
4788s | outfits that you can earn through the |
4790s | event toome for Ed and the Oni which |
4792s | we've also put a ton of love into |
4796s | for Ed we came up with a bit of a seaf |
4797s | fairing theme because she's from an |
4799s | island nation and for the Oni we already |
4802s | know that he's blood obsessed so we took |
4805s | everything about that element of him and |
4806s | just cranked it to 11 with blood |
4809s | incantations all over his chest in his |
4811s | back I'm honestly so excited to be |
4814s | running away from the Oni with that |
4815s | cosmetic it's insane um but just so we |
4819s | can kind of shift our our Focus over to |
4821s | the all things Wicked chapter can you |
4823s | tell us about that collection coming |
4825s | into the game sure let's start with |
4827s | Sable uh for her we're introducing two |
4829s | collections first we have the Sable |
4831s | Essentials collection featuring two rare |
4834s | outfits The Poisoned Angel and the |
4836s | drowned Angel and then we have the inner |
4839s | monster collection featuring The Leather |
4841s | Helen and the leather fire brand outfits |
4844s | both very rare all right I mean just |
4846s | from the names alone I'm really looking |
4848s | forward to it I mean Sable herself is |
4850s | also just an essential for me um but can |
4853s | you tell us a bit more about the |
4854s | inspiration for these |
4857s | designs we really love Sable's vibe in |
4859s | general and we we wanted to Showcase her |
4862s | connection that she has with Michaela |
4864s | this is another really strong |
4866s | interesting female character that we |
4868s | hope that our players will love and of |
4870s | course she's her first unofficial goth |
4873s | character which is so much fun these two |
4876s | collections are two very different plays |
4877s | on that style and it how Sable makes it |
4881s | specifically her own just because she's |
4883s | a little gos it doesn't doesn't mean |
4885s | that she needs to be terrifying Sable |
4887s | might be a little rough around the edges |
4889s | but honestly she's so very kind and so |
4891s | selfless she went into the fog on her |
4893s | own accord to try and save her friend |
4895s | Michaela after all so we wanted these |
4897s | collections to show both of those sides |
4899s | kind of spiky on the outside but soft on |
4902s | the inside I honestly Sab is friendship |
4904s | goals because I want someone to go into |
4906s | the fog for me right um you hope you |
4908s | have those friends right um but now like |
4911s | let's go ahead and shift over to the |
4912s | unknown so you know a killer we know |
4914s | next to nothing about um how did you |
4917s | guys manage to make the outfits even |
4919s | creepier like and I honestly don't even |
4921s | see how yall did that I didn't think it |
4923s | was possible but I think we nailed it |
4925s | for starters we treated the unknown like |
4928s | it could be any citizen of Greenville so |
4931s | while the character's basic form may |
4933s | appear as male we didn't limit ourselves |
4935s | to age or gender when it came to |
4937s | thinking about their Cosmetics we wanted |
4940s | to play with that sort of analog horror |
4942s | theme of finding horror and familiar |
4944s | things so we turned it into a high |
4946s | school cheerleader with the Greenville |
4949s | pep and Greenville cheer outfits both |
4951s | rare uh for the unknown aberration |
4953s | collection then we also turned it into a |
4956s | grandmother with the very rare eyeless |
4958s | Woman outfit for the shop till you drop |
4961s | collection and it's interesting just to |
4963s | see how much this killer can |
4965s | transform and I think we managed to go |
4967s | into two pretty unsettling directions |
4969s | with this collection I think unsettling |
4972s | is pretty much of an understatement here |
4974s | when we're talking about the known here |
4976s | um but since we've been kind of talking |
4978s | about those two amazing collections now |
4980s | let's go ahead and talk about slip knot |
4982s | coming into dead by daylight officially |
4985s | um we had kind of talked about this |
4986s | during our last anniversary stream but |
4988s | can you tell us a bit more and give us a |
4990s | little bit of a preview for sure this |
4992s | collection features eight outfits and |
4994s | seven masks so uh I'm sorry uh seven |
4999s | masks and one full outfit featuring The |
5001s | subliminal Menace for the legion turning |
5004s | them to slip knots DJ Sid Wilson we |
5006s | really wanted to make him feel like a |
5008s | part of dead by daylight so we went all |
5010s | in on the flowing robes and making sure |
5012s | that we nailed that Twisted scary mask |
5015s | that he wears all right so what about |
5017s | the band members you said that we |
5018s | created some masks for them absolutely |
5020s | so we wanted to do a proper homage to |
5022s | all the core members of slipnot and we |
5024s | tried to make sure that they turned out |
5026s | as creepy in game as they are on stage |
5029s | and of course we stayed faithful to |
5030s | their designs but with a few small |
5033s | alterations to suit the killers that we |
5035s | were matching them to mhm so we have the |
5038s | metallic grill for The Wraith based on |
5040s | guitarist Mick Thompson the dominant eye |
5043s | for the deathslinger based on guitarist |
5045s | Jim root the Grim circus for the clown |
5048s | based on custom precaution percussionist |
5050s | Sean crown and engraved flesh for the |
5054s | hillbilly based on basis vman Ashen |
5057s | Quake for the Trapper based on V lead |
5059s | vocalist Cory Taylor and the zipper |
5062s | mouthpiece for the doctor based on slip |

5216s | but there were a couple things that |
5217s | changed that we're going to talk you |
5218s | through right now yeah so if you've been |
5220s | following along you may have noticed |
5221s | that we've made some additions and |
5223s | subtractions this time around uh blood |
5225s | web improvements are moving forward as |
5227s | part of the all things Wicked release um |
5230s | and you can check the patch notes for |
5231s | further details uh for killer tweaks um |
5234s | The increased speed while holding a |
5236s | hatchet for the huntress was tested in |
5237s | the ptb but that has now been reverted |
5240s | for a live release and we appreciate |
5242s | your feedback on that and compared to |
5244s | the update we showed in our last stream |
5246s | in January uh we're moving a few items |
5248s | of focus just for the time being for the |
5250s | April to June window this is really uh |
5253s | due to programmer bandwidth uh as the |
5255s | team has been working a lot more uh in |
5257s | the recent weeks on more modifiers |
5260s | coming to the game as well as some other |
5261s | surprises I definitely can't talk about |
5263s | yet yes so as for what's coming up we've |
