| 1059s | remedy defying All Odds 13 years later |
| 1063s | bringing the sequel blowing people away |
| 1066s | critical Acclaim Awards um so we're just |
| 1069s | so psyched to be able to collaborate |
| 1070s | with them on this yeah exactly and Allen |
| 1073s | is such a gaming icon like I couldn't |

| 1282s | brought Allan into the world of dead by |

| 1320s | once again your community manager dork |
| 1322s | and I am pleased to be sitting down with |
| 1324s | who I hear is a long time Alan Wake fan |
| 1327s | Dave Rashard thank you so much hey it's |
| 1329s | a pleasure to be here so yeah so before |
| 1331s | we get into any of that what am I |
| 1333s | hearing about you being a longtime ala |
| 1334s | wake fan well yeah me and a lot of us on |
| 1337s | the team um you know when we played the |
| 1339s | first title in 2010 that was before that |
| 1343s | by daylight of course but we were |
| 1344s | already working on some ideas some |
| 1346s | prototypes some Concepts that would |
| 1348s | eventually become dead by daylight um |
| 1351s | and U we try not to use too many source |
| 1354s | of inspiration coming from the gaming |
| 1356s | world but Allan Wake was special and it |
| 1358s | kind of stuck with us so with it being |
| 1361s | you know this kind of special thing um |
| 1364s | what were some things about Alan Wake |
| 1366s | that really resonated for you and your |
| 1367s | team with kind of developing and |
| 1369s | bringing Allen into our world yeah so |
| 1372s | the the chapter was really uh an easy |
| 1374s | fit um there are so many parallels that |
| 1376s | we can do uh in in between the two |
| 1379s | Universe um you know the dark place the |
| 1382s | realm of the entity how uh Alan W can |
| 1385s | reshape the world with this creative |
| 1387s | writing and how memories shape the realm |
| 1390s | of the The Entity um the flashlight uses |
| 1393s | an offensive weapon um and uh you know |
| 1396s | we've we've talked with Remedy Our |
| 1397s | collaborator on this of course and and |
| 1399s | now we know that we also share a lot of |
| 1402s | inspiration yeah so then with these |
| 1405s | Inspirations that you know kind of |
| 1407s | pulling from the world of Alan Wake um |
| 1410s | which did we take in kind of making this |
| 1414s | reflection of Allan into the DVD |
| 1416s | Universe yeah um so you know our fans |
| 1421s | know that we love to go for Classics so |
| 1424s | usually we go for the first movie the |
| 1426s | first book The First Title in in |
| 1429s | everything we do as collaboration um for |
| 1432s | Allan we uh are using the Allen wake 2 |
| 1435s | appearance um we wanted to make sure you |
| 1438s | know like us the fans of the series we |
| 1440s | had to wait 13 years between the two |
| 1442s | titles and for Allan it was an eternity |
| 1446s | he was stuck into the dark place he was |
| 1448s | trying to get out um and we really |
| 1452s | wanted to show this experience being in |
| 1455s | that type of World um so that's why we |
| 1458s | are using the older alen wig okay so |
| 1461s | then with uh kind of constructing Allan |
| 1464s | is it safe to say that we worked really |
| 1466s | close with remedy and we were able to |
| 1467s | work with the voice actor for Allan |
| 1470s | Matthew peretta or the actual physical |
| 1473s | like kind of uh iteration of Alan ilav |
| 1476s | yeah we had the the pleasure to work |
| 1478s | with both so yeah we do have the |
| 1480s | likeness uh for Alan Wake uh and we had |
| 1483s | the chance to create some new voice line |
| 1485s | uh for Allan in dead by daylight awesome |
| 1488s | so now that we've kind of talked about |
| 1489s | how Allan will sound and how he will |
| 1492s | look what can you tell us about how |
| 1493s | Allan will play so like gameplay wise |
| 1496s | what are we thinking about with perks |
| 1497s | yeah so like I said earlier it was uh |
| 1500s | quite an easy fit for Allan to be in in |
| 1503s | dead by daylight um so there's uh Three |
| 1505s | core pillars with which we were working |
| 1508s | uh so the first one is a given it's the |
| 1511s | you know light VSS Darkness um using a |
| 1515s | flashlight as a weapon was something |
| 1517s | important we wanted to explore um the |
| 1520s | second concept is um Allen's creative |
| 1524s | writing and how it can shape the world |
| 1526s | and the last one we wanted to is how |
| 1529s | Allan will put himself in front of |
| 1532s | danger to protect others even people |
| 1534s | that he doesn't know okay so with these |
| 1537s | themes these kind of these core pillars |
| 1539s | of Allen um can you tell us how these |
| 1542s | came to light in his perks yeah |
| 1543s | absolutely so uh let's go to the perks |
| 1546s | the first one is called Boon |
| 1548s | illumination so obviously it's a boon |
| 1551s | perk um when the survivors are in the |
| 1554s | zone of the Boon um they will be able to |
| 1557s | see the auras of chests and generators |
| 1560s | um so we wanted to show a little bit how |
| 1562s | Allen can shape and influence the world |
| 1565s | like this obviously it's all it also |
| 1567s | comes with the passive to be able to |
| 1569s | create bounds and Destroy X's a little |
| 1571s | bit |
| 1572s | faster the second perk uh is given like |
| 1576s | I've mentioned we wanted to do something |
| 1578s | with the flashlight so it's called |
| 1580s | champion of light so while the players |
| 1583s | are equipped with the spark and are |
| 1584s | using a flashlight they will be under |
| 1586s | the effect of a Al when you hit the |
| 1589s | killer with the flashlight you will U |
| 1591s | not only blind them but you will also |
| 1593s | put the ured status effect on them and |
| 1597s | the last one is called deadline um so |
| 1600s | with that perk it will trigger when you |
| 1603s | are injured and then you will get more |
| 1606s | skill checks when doing uh repairs and |
| 1608s | healing so this will give you the chance |
| 1610s | to complete these actions faster um but |
| 1614s | with a little bit tougher skill check um |
| 1617s | and also if you do miss them the skill |
| 1620s | check you will um have the penalty aled |
| 1623s | so I've already been able to tell TR |
| 1625s | from posting our explainers on our |
| 1628s | socials that players are really hand |
| 1629s | like antsy to get their hands on these |
| 1631s | perks and actually trying them out um so |
| 1633s | just to give players a little bit more |
| 1635s | is there any other aspects of Allen that |
| 1637s | players can expect to see coming into |
| 1639s | dead by daylight oh yeah AB absolutely |
| 1641s | um so fans will be pleased to know that |
| 1644s | uh we wanted to take you know Allan's |
| 1647s | ability to shape worlds true is creative |
| 1650s | writing um to the AR to the archive but |
| 1653s | I don't want to spoil too much uh Justin |
| 1654s | banks will talk more about that later |
| 1657s | and also fans of the series know that |
| 1659s | there's a lot of very important |
| 1661s | characters not just Allan the Allan waks |
| 1664s | Series so we wanted to do them justice |
| 1667s | as well and Rose and Kirby will talk |
| 1669s | about that later all right so Before I |
| 1672s | Let You Go Dave just had to ask as a |
| 1674s | longtime Allan Wake fan since 2010 how |
| 1678s | does it feel to finally have Allan |
| 1680s | coming into dead by daylight yeah it |
| 1682s | feels amazing um such a natural fit and |
| 1685s | yeah we you know during the production |
| 1687s | of DVD we kind of forgot about Alan Wake |
| 1690s | for a little while so when we learned |
| 1692s | that the second title was in the making |
| 1693s | and we talked with remedy we were so |
| 1696s | hyped to be able to welcome Alan in in |
| 1698s | our universe it's uh like completing the |
| 1701s | loop completing the story yes and I am |
| 1704s | super excited to actually get my own |
| 1705s | hands on Allan and test him out and in |
| 1708s | the fog so thank you so much Dave for |

| 2001s | favorite writer Alan Wake who's know him |
| 2002s | been do a few revisions of his writing |
| 2004s | Works himself and take an opportunity to |
| 2007s | do some tweaks for quality of life for |
| 2009s | the archives in terms of how we approach |
| 2011s | challenges to really enhance the player |
| 2013s | experience reduce friction and just make |
| 2015s | the progression feel better all right |
| 2018s | we're definitely going to touch on those |
| 2019s | quality of life and uh other aspects |
| 2021s | later but can you tell me more about how |
| 2024s | Allan Wake fits into Tom 18 sure thing I |
| 2028s | I know Dave before had mentioned uh how |
| 2029s | he fits into dbd overall it's it's a |
| 2031s | perfect fit I mean uh since the |
| 2034s | beginning of dbd I think alen wake has |
| 2036s | always seemed like someone who fits into |
| 2039s | into this world um and given that we are |
| 2043s | releasing the chapter at the same time |
| 2044s | as we normally release a t it only made |
| 2046s | it made perfect sense to to bring these |
| 2047s | two together give him a chance to really |
| 2049s | write his own reality um to give players |
| 2052s | a really interesting story to read um I |
| 2055s | mean that's something that Alan Wick is |
| 2057s | known to do to to write things and they |
| 2059s | just happen uh and that that whole idea |
| 2061s | was something that was discussed remedy |
| 2063s | very early on uh to see how we could |
| 2066s | explore that more in the world of dbd |
| 2069s | and without giving too much away to |
| 2070s | players it is going to revolve around |
| 2074s | him writing the episode of night Springs |
| 2076s | and how that pulls him into the entity's |
| 2079s | realm it's it's gonna be a lot of fun |
| 2081s | it's G to have probably some theories |
| 2083s | around our player base uh I know players |
| 2085s | love theorizing for for the Lauren dbd |
| 2088s | it's definitely something we've seen uh |
| 2090s | they're GNA be asking well you how did |
| 2091s | Alan Wake get here is this his own |
| 2093s | pocket universe is it did he create a |
| 2096s | door for then to pull him through is it |
| 2097s | his own version of the entity's realm |
| 2099s | it's it's going to be a lot of fun yeah |
| 2101s | I can already picture just fans the |
| 2104s | arising of both franchises just trying |
| 2105s | to figure out how Allen came to be ended |
| 2107s | by daylight um but thankfully for you |
| 2110s | all watching um with to 18 you'll be |
| 2112s | able to dive head first into that ocean |

| 2116s | feeling of how Allan came here um so |

| 2155s | rift we're going to have player cards in |
| 2157s | every Rift from this point on um and |
| 2160s | they are going to be amazing um some of |
| 2163s | these new Allen wake themed player cards |
| 2165s | are even going to be ultra rares the |
| 2167s | very first of their kind in DVD and what |
| 2169s | sets these apart is |
| 2171s | animations so whether you are looking at |
| 2174s | them in your lobby or the tally screen |
| 2176s | there's going to be some very nice |
| 2177s | subtle animations to to pick up on um |
| 2180s | now I say subtle because we we want to |
| 2182s | preserve the feeling of we want the game |
| 2184s | to still feel like DVD we don't want |
| 2186s | fireworks or confetti going off |
| 2188s | everywhere and when you get to the end |
| 2190s | of a match and there's five players |
| 2192s | showcasing things it can get a bit messy |
| 2195s | um that being said I think what the team |
| 2197s | has made is amazing uh the Allen Lake |
| 2199s | fans are going to pick up on all of |
| 2201s | these for sure for the ultra rare Banner |
| 2203s | that we have it's a dead deer in a lake |
| 2206s | with the water Rippling around it for |
| 2208s | the elic player badge we have a |
| 2211s | lighthouse with the light circling |
| 2213s | around I think they're they're going to |
| 2215s | look all just amazing Remy was a huge |
| 2217s | help in picking what is going to be the |
| 2220s | most meaningful and iconic to our |
| 2222s | players I'm really excited to get my |
| 2224s | hands on it as well especially just the |
| 2226s | that with the deer and just having that |
| 2229s | like that pull from the game it's was |
| 2231s | already such a striking image so I'm |
| 2233s | just really looking forward to like kind |
| 2235s | of really having that in dead by |
| 2236s | daylight um but you did mention charm so |
| 2238s | what's that about so for the charms I I |
| 2241s | mean I also mentioned how remedy is you |
| 2243s | know very helpful in US picking out |
| 2245s | iconic and meaningful you know elements |
| 2247s | from the game and charms is just a great |
| 2250s | way for us to express that in DVD and |
| 2252s | one of the most iconic ones we have is |
| 2253s | Allen's famous typewriter uh as an ultra |
| 2256s | rare this one has a secret message where |
| 2258s | if if you look close you know you might |
| 2260s | see you you might see what he's trying |
| 2262s | to say or what someone's trying to say |
| 2264s | um then we also have his iconic Angel |
| 2267s | lamp we have his you know an adorable |
| 2268s | little Allen figurine and we also have |
| 2270s | an O deer Diner |
| 2273s | thermos a lot more like we're not |
| 2275s | stopping just there then then in terms |
| 2278s | of Cosmetics for actual outfits we've |
| 2281s | got you know a very nice one that I |
| 2282s | think players of elen w 2 are going to |
| 2285s | recognize we have an outfit called the |
| 2288s | darker side which is Alan Wake dressing |
| 2291s | as his doppelganger Mr scratch now it's |
| 2294s | really cool I think it's even on the |
| 2296s | keyart it's ever we really love to |
| 2297s | Showcase this and and what's better for |
| 2300s | the players is that it's available right |
| 2302s | away in tier one of the premium track so |
| 2304s | you get the rift pass day one you get |
| 2307s | this outfit and you can run around as |
| 2308s | Allan Wake dressed as his doppelganger |
| 2310s | Mr scratch uh I think it's super fun I'm |
| 2314s | really looking forward to seeing that as |
| 2315s | well but I did want to come back a |
| 2317s | little bit with those assets we saw that |
| 2319s | were kind of going on the screen um I |
| 2321s | saw some that we didn't mentioned |
| 2323s | earlier could you tell us more about |
| 2325s | those for sure so the darker side is not |
| 2327s | only you know an outfit but it's also a |
| 2329s | theme that we're using to to lean into |
| 2331s | for for these other ones you know |
| 2333s | thinking about what Mr scratch means to |
| 2335s | alen wake what could we do with our |
| 2337s | characters making them them darker more |
| 2339s | Twisted than they actually are so we |
| 2341s | have one for Nia where she becomes more |
| 2343s | of a hardcore Rebel another for Felix |
| 2347s | where he's more of like an evil |
| 2348s | mastermind then there's Killers which |
| 2350s | are already fairly sad and twisted um so |
| 2353s | we tried to find ways to push them a |
| 2355s | little further one for the hillbilly |
| 2357s | that kind of tugs on your heartstrings |
| 2359s | if you know his lore as I know you do |
| 2361s | yes uh where he's dressed as a superhero |
| 2363s | that he idolized from his childhood uh |
| 2366s | then another for the death Slinger where |
| 2368s | we could say after a mistake in his um |
| 2371s | you in his Workshop he's more machine |
| 2373s | than |
| 2374s | man yeah I I already thinking that it's |
| 2377s | more you know dark and twisted that you |
| 2379s | all made such a compelling thing for the |
| 2382s | hillbilly um but you know that just |
| 2384s | means that you all need to play |
| 2385s | hillbilly more uh for me so now let's go |
| 2389s | ahead and talk about some of the quality |
| 2390s | of life changes as um you mentioned |
| 2392s | earlier before there were some that you |
| 2394s | have done in the challenges yeah yeah so |
| 2397s | those are really cool and I think it's |
| 2400s | there's a lot that we we wanted to |
| 2401s | approach for some time and this was a |
| 2402s | really great opportunity for us to to |
| 2404s | jump on it uh so I want to point out |
| 2406s | first we're we have this idea of what we |
| 2408s | call the critical path so that's always |
| 2410s | going to be the starting node of a level |
| 2413s | of the toome to the end okay you know |
| 2416s | for kind of the path of most resistance |
| 2418s | I guess you you can also think of uh so |
| 2420s | what we wanted to tackle was making this |
| 2422s | as easy as possible so you know no |
| 2424s | matter who you are no matter what perks |
| 2425s | you have characters you can make it from |
| 2427s | start to end so that that's one of the |
| 2430s | things that we wanted to do and we |
| 2432s | achieve that by removing some challenges |
| 2434s | that are a little too specific or maybe |
| 2436s | you might not understand like jump from |
| 2438s | a from a very high height or or such |
| 2441s | removing challenges that require the |
| 2444s | interactions or behavior of other |
| 2446s | players which you know can cause a |
| 2448s | standstill in some situations it's just |
| 2450s | not all that much fun MH um and then |
| 2453s | just overall reducing the difficulty U |
| 2456s | you know whether whether it's values or |
| 2458s | or such and that's not to say that |
| 2459s | there's not going to be any challenge at |
| 2461s | all you know we're just reducing the |
| 2462s | friction there's still going to be |
| 2464s | Master challenges that are asking you to |
| 2466s | do a little bit more but overall it's |
| 2468s | going to be more fun it's be more |
| 2469s | engaging and it's just going to feel |
| 2471s | like you're doing less of the same thing |
| 2473s | back to back yeah I'm really looking |
| 2475s | forward to those because like you were |
| 2477s | saying like you get into those moments |
| 2478s | where you know you are waiting to be the |
| 2480s | last person left in the match to find |
| 2482s | the hatch or trying to point at a |
| 2484s | generator to get some Cooperative points |
| 2486s | so really looking forward to those but |
| 2489s | are there any other changes maybe um |
| 2492s | happening to the challenges themselves |
| 2494s | or just to the path the core path yeah |
| 2496s | so everything there is more I would say |
| 2498s | design strategy for how the the team |
| 2500s | approaches the construction of the |
| 2501s | challenges and the layout beyond that |
| 2503s | there's also just pure values um so to |
| 2507s | improve the progression speed because it |
| 2508s | wasn't where we wanted it to be we want |
| 2510s | more players to be able to progress |
| 2511s | through the rift to be able to you know |
| 2513s | progress faster to do that we've changed |
| 2516s | the the values of the normal challenges |
| 2518s | from three Rift fragments when completed |
| 2520s | to five so just by doing any normal |
| 2523s | challenge you're finishing half of a |
| 2525s | tier in the rift then for master |
| 2527s | challenges we've bumped that up from |
| 2528s | five Rift fragments to eight Rift |
| 2530s | fragments all right so to master |
| 2532s | challenge you've almost finished a whole |
| 2533s | tier right there uh I think that's going |
| 2536s | to make players feel like they're |
| 2537s | they're really moving along at a at a |
| 2539s | good speed just by finishing a single |
| 2541s | challenge uh all that you know we kind |
| 2544s | of cap it off by just adjusting the |
| 2547s | number of challenges that we have per |
| 2548s | level because now the progression speed |
| 2550s | is faster it's going to take less time |
| 2551s | to complete uh we're reducing it from |
| 2554s | about an average of 20 challenges per |
| 2556s | level to 17 and that's also helping us |
| 2558s | reduce some of that repetition so we're |
| 2560s | making sure like if a challenge is there |
| 2561s | it's meaningful it's fun it's gonna you |
| 2564s | know it adds to the package all right |

| 2808s | we do sure so we were closly with the |
| 2810s | production teams uh during the ideation |
| 2812s | and conception phase of the outfits |
| 2815s | after that that we move on to the road |
| 2818s | map and the release strategy for the |
| 2820s | collections in this release you were |
| 2822s | really Hands-On with the Allen wake |
| 2823s | collection while I was working with the |
| 2825s | Iron Maiden and winter New Year |
| 2828s | collections I'm really excited to talk |
| 2830s | about all of these but since this is the |
| 2832s | Allen wake live stream why don't we |
| 2833s | start with the Allen wake collection |
| 2835s | sure really we're really excited to have |
| 2837s | Allen wake joined dead by daylight and |
| 2839s | we really tried to get as many looks as |
| 2841s | possible into the game so I'll start |
| 2843s | with the two legendary outfits SAA |
| 2845s | Anderson and Rose marold so going for |
| 2848s | these two characters we were really |
| 2850s | trying to stke a balance between Alan |
| 2851s | Wick 1 and alen Wick 2 of course Rose is |
| 2854s | from both games but most fans will know |
| 2856s | her from the original alen Wick and Saga |
| 2858s | of course is the co-protagonist |
| 2859s | alongside Allan in alen Wick 2 it was a |
| 2863s | huge deal for us to be able to bring |
| 2864s | these characters in especially Saga |
| 2867s | because if you played Alan Wick 2 you'll |
| 2869s | know what how important she is to the |
| 2871s | whole experience and what a huge role |
| 2872s | she plays in The ingame Narrative we |
| 2875s | couldn't leave either her or rose marold |
| 2877s | out of dead by daylight Rose supporting |
| 2880s | Rose that's really exciting how about |
| 2882s | Allan though are we getting outfits from |
| 2884s | both games yeah of course so for Allan |
| 2887s | we tried to get as many of his looks |
| 2889s | main looks into the game as possible so |
| 2892s | his default outfit will be based on his |
| 2894s | appearance in alawi 2 while you'll also |
| 2896s | be able to try out some very rare |
| 2898s | outfits based on his classic look in the |
| 2900s | original alen Wick as well as a bref |
| 2902s | Falls outfit from Allen Wick 2 we're |
| 2905s | also happy to share that both Rose and |
| 2907s | Alan will have unique voice lines |
| 2908s | recorded by their original voice actors |
| 2910s | from alen Wick 2 so while we usually try |
| 2914s | well we always try to get unique voice |
| 2916s | lines for licensed characters and |
| 2917s | legendary outfits we're not always able |
| 2920s | to do so so unfortunately Saga won't |
| 2922s | have any unique voice lines but we still |
| 2924s | wanted players to be able to get a |
| 2926s | chance to play as her in the fog even |
| 2927s | though her legendary outfit won't have |
| 2929s | voice lines so to recap the allenway |
| 2933s | collection will be releasing with Saga |
| 2935s | and the classic alen wake today and Rose |
| 2938s | and the brightfalls island will be |
| 2940s | released February 7th so we're excited |
| 2943s | to see these coming into the fog but as |
| 2945s | Kirby mentioned before those aren't the |
| 2947s | only collections to be excited about can |
| 2949s | you tell us more yeah thanks Rose uh so |
| 2952s | working with Iron Maiden has definitely |
| 2953s | been one of the coolest collaborations |

| 2981s | Stranger in a Strange Land off their |

| 2989s | Man On The Edge and its album The X |
| 2991s | Factor finally the only was the perfect |
| 2994s | choice to bring and Jutsu to life those |
| 2997s | are super cool killer outfits but what |
| 3000s | about us Survivor Ms oh of course uh |
| 3004s | We've created uh band T-shirts for all |

| 3188s | flown out here to Montreal just to talk |
| 3189s | to you today about something we're both |
| 3192s | quite excited about uh hopefully you'll |
| 3194s | be as well um and this is the |
| 3196s | introduction of time limited modifiers |
| 3199s | with our first one called lights out so |
| 3202s | before going too deep first off what is |
| 3205s | a |
| 3206s | modifier yeah so a modifier is our way |
| 3210s | of giving players a new way to play dead |
| 3213s | by daylight uh but without changing the |
| 3217s | major structure of the game and and what |
| 3220s | people love about it so like I said we |
| 3222s | won't be changing any of the of the main |
| 3224s | structure of dead by daylight so like |
| 3226s | wind conditions and all of that will be |
| 3227s | staying the same for now uh but what we |
| 3230s | are changing is stuff like stats uh |
| 3233s | visibility factors maybe some level |
| 3235s | design stuff all of that is on the table |
| 3238s | um and we're starting out by introducing |
| 3242s | these time limited modifiers because |
| 3245s | well we want to experiment we want to |
| 3247s | throw a bunch of stuff out there and see |
| 3249s | what players like what they don't like |
| 3252s | and then uh you know commit to something |
| 3255s | more permanent down the road so I heard |
| 3257s | you use the plural there so it sounds |
| 3259s | like this is not a oneoff where we're |
| 3260s | planning more of these yeah that's the |
| 3263s | idea uh you know |
| 3266s | it's all subject to change but we hope |
| 3268s | to release one of these every two to |
| 3271s | three releases uh in the future over the |
| 3274s | past while we've been working pretty |
| 3276s | hard on brainstorming and just testing |
| 3279s | and developing a bunch of ideas we've |
| 3282s | taken a very blue sky approach throw a |
| 3284s | bunch of ideas against the wall and see |
| 3286s | what sticks and uh we've come up with |
| 3289s | with a line up of ideas that I think are |
| 3291s | are really tight and I'm I'm just pumped |
| 3293s | to roll them out each one is unique they |
| 3297s | have their unique hooks see what I did |
| 3300s | there yes it's a pun |
| 3303s | yes and uh but you know a lot of them |
| 3306s | look very similar to dead by daylight |
| 3309s | the the normal dead by daylight gameplay |
| 3311s | but will require you to play in a |
| 3313s | different way to approach the game |
| 3314s | differently and I would say that lights |
| 3316s | out fits squarely in that category okay |
| 3319s | so on that note so I'm a I'm a person |
| 3321s | with high anxiety especially when I'm |
| 3323s | playing dead by daylight just the name |
| 3325s | lights up out evokes something in me the |
| 3328s | idea of it being a darker experience is |
| 3331s | pretty scary I'm assuming was this part |
| 3333s | of the the intention absolutely um in |
| 3336s | fact when we were first internally |
| 3338s | testing with these modifiers this one |
| 3341s | was an idea that we called dark and |
| 3343s | scary like that was literally the the |
| 3346s | pitch let's create something dark and |
| 3347s | scary and that's what we did um it's |
| 3352s | meant to really ratchet up that that |
| 3354s | horror at the core of of dead by |
| 3356s | daylight and that and the tension that |
| 3357s | comes with it uh you can probably tell |
| 3360s | from the from the name that it's going |
| 3362s | to be dark and you know you're not going |
| 3365s | to be able to see the killer coming from |
| 3366s | a far off so there's going to be lots of |
| 3368s | surprises uh you never know what's going |
| 3370s | to be around the next Corner we also |
| 3372s | really wanted this to be an immersive |
| 3375s | experience uh to really make the game |
| 3377s | feel natural so we've removed a lot of |
| 3381s | things we removed some of the HUD from |
| 3383s | the game uh We've removed the scratch |
| 3385s | marks from the survivors we've removed |
| 3387s | the terror radius from The Killers uh |
| 3390s | you will not have items or perks or |
| 3393s | offerings in this mode um and all in the |
| 3396s | name of of making it really in the |
| 3398s | moment and uh and creating that sense of |
| 3401s | ersion fantastic and I think people I've |
| 3404s | gotten to see some screenshots while you |
| 3406s | were talking you can see there what's |

| 3457s | okay so this is a temporary uh thing is |
| 3460s | it the only thing you can play in dead |
| 3462s | by daylight during this Tim limited uh |
| 3465s | modifier being in the game uh no in fact |
| 3468s | we specifically made it uh so that this |
| 3472s | is separate from normal dead by daylight |
| 3475s | so yeah in the main menu there's a new |
| 3477s | button that will take you to lights out |
| 3479s | and that's got its own separate player |
| 3480s | queue uh so you can play how you prefer |
| 3483s | to play fantastic so the design team I |
| 3487s | like to think of as a bunch of mad |
| 3488s | scientists in your lab cooking up all |
| 3491s | your experiments and that's fair it's |
| 3493s | it's got to be a fun moment when you |
| 3495s | finally get people play testing things |
| 3497s | like this that for the first time what |
| 3498s | was it like yeah it was tons of fun you |
| 3502s | know as designers we really look for |
| 3504s | that moment of of of just recognition |
| 3507s | when we know people are having a good |
| 3508s | time and when we first tested out this |
| 3511s | modifier uh we found that you know there |
| 3514s | were lots of Screams there were lots of |
| 3516s | laughs uh it was just it was a good time |

| 3522s | course we did a lot of iterating to to |
| 3524s | Really massage it into as best a version |
| 3527s | as we could get uh but we really hope |
| 3529s | that everybody's going to enjoy it I I |

| 3561s | expectations in check they can be |
| 3563s | deceiving it it will look like like a |
| 3565s | normal game of dead by daylight but you |
| 3568s | won't be able to uh survive in the same |
| 3571s | ways you'll have to approach it in a new |
| 3573s | way and don't be too discouraged if it's |
| 3576s | harder to survive you know we we really |
| 3578s | wanted this to be a challenging and |
| 3580s | terrifying experience so you may not |
| 3584s | find that exit gate quite as easy as you |
| 3586s | are used to that said we've got a lot of |
| 3589s | uh ideas for the future and we're re |
| 3593s | we've really got our ears open for |
| 3594s | feedbacks so what you like what you |

| 5082s | uh I love that um so this went into the |
| 5085s | ptb with the caveat that the killer |
| 5086s | would lose stacks of save of the best |
| 5088s | for last if the obsession lost a health |
| 5090s | state by any means um but going into the |
| 5094s | live game we've changed that so that the |
| 5096s | obsession uh losing a health state by |
| 5098s | either a basic attack or a Power Attack |
| 5101s | is the only way the Killer is going to |
| 5102s | lose stacks of Save The Best For Last um |
| 5104s | this is so that survivors can't plot |
| 5106s | twist or get grabbed out of a locker or |
| 5108s | a vault to make the killer lose stacks |
| 5111s | of Save The Best For Last um so |
| 5113s | basically what we did was just remove |
| 5114s | the caveat of by any means uh next up is |
| 5117s | a killer update for the hillbilly um and |
| 5119s | we're really excited to see that players |
| 5121s | really enjoyed the chainsaw overdrive uh |
| 5124s | system so thank you so much for your |
| 5127s | feedback there um but we did see that |
| 5129s | there was the most notable feedback |
| 5130s | being that the chainsaw was just too |
| 5132s | loud so what we've done because we care |
| 5135s | about your hearing and we want you to be |
| 5137s | able to play the game safely um we've |
| 5139s | made some adjustments there so you can |
| 5140s | continue chainsawing throughout the map |
| 5142s | without any issues fantastic now that |
| 5145s | we've covered today's update let's look |
| 5147s | at march to April see what you can |
| 5149s | expect in the future so in our next ptb |
| 5151s | you'll get to test a bunch of this stuff |
| 5154s | uh a lot of tweaks centered around |
| 5155s | number Buffs for some of your favorite |
| 5156s | Killers one new thing here is mangled so |
| 5159s | the mangled update will focus on adding |
| 5161s | a timer to the status effect which |
| 5163s | allows uh it's per sloppy butcher perk |
| 5166s | as well as add-ons that are associated |
| 5167s | with it to remain useful while still |
| 5170s | creating you know opportunities for |
| 5171s | counterplay uh for the survivors and |
| 5173s | giving them more decision-making ability |
| 5176s | and that's it for that uh section of the |
| 5178s | map yeah so now we're going to look at |
| 5180s | April and June um so following that |
| 5182s | we'll have the long awaited update for |
| 5184s | the twins um and this is going to be |
| 5186s | coming sometime in Spring early summer |
| 5189s | um we're looking forward to |
| 5190s | reacquainting the community with the |
| 5192s | twins and making the gameplay more |
| 5193s | engaging and more interactive for |
| 5195s | everyone inside the trial and finally |
| 5198s | we'll have some general notes just to |
| 5199s | close some things out so for the blight |
| 5201s | U moving into the live game today we'll |
| 5203s | be continuing to monitor the add-on |
| 5205s | changes that we've made for the blight |
| 5207s | as well as reassessing if there needs to |
| 5208s | be any Base Kit changes um and if so |
| 5211s | where um next you'll probably see that |
| 5214s | we had on the graphic adrenaline was |
| 5216s | added to one of the perks that we're |
| 5218s | thinking about changing um this is just |
| 5220s | because we're trying to keep an eye on |
| 5222s | it as well as some other perks to see if |
| 5224s | we need to make it make any minor |
| 5225s | changes to make it more in line with |
| 5228s | anything else in the game uh but that is |
| 5230s | it for our future design updates yes and |
| 5233s | that's also it basically for today's |
