Just some simple modifications to the item displays (well that depends on your definition of "simple" but regardless).

(#) = Descending from most to least important as I deem fit (which none of these are very important, but you get what I mean)

(3) = This would be really great! [High Priority]

(2) = It would be nice, I guess. [Medium Priority]

(1) = ...meh idk, maybe? [Low Priority]

  • (3) Options to toggle certain displays such as the info box that's disabled by default as well as the weapon stats.
  • (3) Weapon stats could be simplified. Lets have a meter instead of numbers for those who don't care much about specifics.
  • (3) Messing with the rotation of the item display should stop the item from doing that float effect (shifting from left to right) or more preferably have the float effect pause for a few seconds while you mess with it, then start floating again if left to idle.
  • (3) A zoom option so we can get a good look of certain features if we so desire. Right click on a certain area to show a view box with the magnified image, like the magnify tool on PC.
  • (1) Some little tooltips on certain areas when zoomed that tell some random facts about the components of the items
  • (3) Have holding stances for the other items that don't have that (flares, grenades, pickaxes, and armor)
  • (3) Fix those few bugs that have appeared as of Update 24 (Character rotation is slower, weapons don't change in the character's hands when you switch between them)
  • (2) Animations for when you switch between the classes or when you switch their weapons
  • (2) Animations for when you browse over different items (when you hover over one tool then switch to another, the characters change to hold that item)
  • (1) The ability to toy around with the mission completion animations or something similar (which if its something similar, we might as well have emotes)
  • (1) Some sort of reversion of the old equipment menu ui. I wasn't around to see it when I joined the community but from the looks of it I liked it better.
  • (1) Adding onto that last suggestion, make the equipment menu semi-customizable with the ability to resize certain windows and such with layout presets.

That's about as many as I can think of. Threes are what I want the most, Twos are small features that would be nice things to throw in with it, and Ones are just "for-sh*ts-n-giggles" suggestions that I don't think most people would really be heartbroken if they weren't included. As you can see my highest priority suggestions are those for the item displays themselves instead of the equipment menu and alien things (no pun intended) that stand out. My second priorities are just some things that would be nice to look at in the same vain as the new mission completion end screen. My lowest priorities have nothing to do with making the item displays look more appealing nor easier to work with in any way and are more just little details that'd be nice to have with less emphasis compared to my second priorities.

Twos and Ones are just thrown in there with the package, but the Threes are what I want most. Most of the computer screens and such have remained static as far as I've seen from update logs and old gameplay images and footage. Some have changed, yes, but I think the best improvement that could be made is to have them be easier to approach as well as comfortable to use. Really all of the terminals could be visually and tangibly reworked, but for now we can start here.

Good post, Gryphon. I can't say all of this will make it in ( I doubt we'll make customizable layouts for the menus), but you make a bunch of valid points.
