So, this has been bugging me: why is there no payout for bringing home excess objective materials, such as Morkite and Boolo Caps?

Obviously some objective materials such as eggs only spawn in enough to finish the mission, but others spawn in rather more than are strictly required.

Specifically, I would think that the following primary and secondary objective materials (and Nitra) ought to pay out something when you bring home more than they wanted:

Aquarqs, Morkite, Alien Fossil, Apoca Bloom, Boolo Cap, Dystrum, Hollomite, and Nitra. I'd price them as follows - but only that brought in in excess of the mission objectives. I'd price them as follows - just off-the-cuff:

Material Value Material Value
Gold 2 Compressed Gold 300-500
Aquarq 50 Boolo Cap 10
Morkite 1 Dystrum 1
Alien Fossil 10 Hollomite 2
Apoca Bloom 10 Nitra 0.25

It just seems like extra effort oughta be rewarded.

See, it’s all about meeting your quotas and not exceeding them. The Union guys have been working hard greasing the gears to make sure that dwarves are paid for the work they put in. However, due to bureaucracy and fickle economics Deep Rock Galactic has responded by setting a strict budget for payouts per mission, and thus the rate paid for anything exceeding the quota is significantly lower. We had dwarves camping out for days, which led to a higher spending on equipment recovery and funeral insurance.

All in all, this ensures that the people in processing can keep up with the materials mined and that there’s not excess spending on salaries and similar luxuries. Management run a tight ship.

(TL;DR - there is, but it’s not worth it)
