Currently deciding whether or not to purchase this game, the description and gameplay all looks quite fun.

However in the trailer at 1:41-1:43 and again 1:49-1:53 looks like there's a sort of spider horde. I use the term aracnophobia lightly because it doesn't trigger me in the trailer as I'm not immersed in the game, but if i'm in game and they're gonna be flooding from all over in a surprise fashion with no warning, I'd rather not pay to get triggered.

Usually I'm alright with typical game spider fights because I'd be able to see them and 'prepare' myself, but if they flood in out of the dark some screaming might be in order.

Sidenote - I'll be playing with two other friends as well so if they act as vanguards of sorts I'd probably be ok? Do things often spawn behind an already cleared area?

Tl;dr How much of the game is dealing with arachnids that appear without warning? Can I get around it by focusing on mining or just standing behind some friends?

I hate spiders myself, and have not had any issues with those in-game. I think they're 'meaty' enough to not trigger arachnophobes.

/u/iCookiess I made a short video of a lot of small swarmers coming down a tunnel. It's a pretty extreme situation, that most likely won't happen in game, but it was the crawliest thing I could think of.

Note that they sometimes jump as movement, so they can come right at your face, but it's not that bad - at least not for me.

Can't say i'm a fan of that video, but i appreciate the effort!

Note that it’s an extreme. Normally you’ll never stare down such a tunnel and at that amount. :D and when you do, you’re with a team and experienced enough to laugh at the danger and flame those suckers.

Check out some gameplay videos to see how a game usually plays. There’s a bunch of Vod’s on Twitch and Youtube.

This one is quite fun. https://youtu.be/3xgWrdx9cwY
