The DRG IP has a lot of potential but they are most likely holding out until a 1.0 release. Since everything has the potential to change in the future, rushing to make a quick buck and creating a line of branded merchandise that may eventually become "out of date" wouldn't be very consumer friendly.

Also of note, Coffee Stain Publishing currently has a deal in place that may impact the decision making process as well as potential profits involved in merchandising. See here. "Any inquiries regarding publishing, marketing, QA and localisation of the game must go through Coffee  Stain Publishing. " The terms of this contract are almost certainly confidential so I doubt anyone from the team would be able to comment on it, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the nature of the agreement at the very least delayed things somewhat since all involved parties will need to be satisfied with the associated marketing campaign, product, and relevant margins.

At its core, though, GSG is a game development company. Bringing someone in to manage physical inventory, build a supply chain from the ground up and produce a line of high quality branded merchandise which can reach a regionally diverse customer base at a margin that scales well is a lot of work.

I work for a company that makes $30-50mm/year, and only recently has it started to take its supply chain outside of its core product seriously. Things like packaging, freight, labor cost, product development, quality assurance, accounting, data analytics, customer service, etc. are all daunting factors that can make or break a business.

I've seen some hints from the team in the past that something might be in the works. It'll be interesting to see what approach they take in the end, and how soon it comes.
