Reposting this here from Steam because it's one of the few suggestions I would love for the devs to actively take a look at.
I love how a small story is told within them, and I especially love the hopeless feel I got from Mission Control this season - His voice acting genuinely gave me chills once or twice for such a light hearted game - but there's a few problems.
One, is that often if you're not hosting, there's a decently high chance the host will disband and the game seems to have a 50/50 chance of replaying the text by Mission Control once you reload. I've missed out on quite a lot of them, coupled with the usual skipping, except accidental this time of course.
Two, is that aside from these cool story beats in the form of him relaying what happened, there's not much to differentiate them from normal assignments. I feel like they would be a great way to beef up the Season theme ala Story Quests from Warframe. Obviously not to the same degree, because I doubt that GSG have the same manpower as Digital Extremes, but a couple of cinematic elements would be pretty nice.
For example, Mission Control mentions that a Rockpox meteor fragment struck Spacerig 5, completely destroying it. All hands are considered lost. What if an explosion was heard after the mission that precedes this voiceline, and then he relays what happened after that? What if you could see fragments of the Spacerig flying past outside of the window?
This type of stuff is really cool, and something I'd like to see more of in the future, but I'd love for them to make it a bit meatier, a bit more in depth than just Mission Control telling you some new story element after the end of the mission.
Heck, even once we're done with the story Mission Control says that several large portions of the biomass have withered and died. What if we hear a roar, followed by portions of the biomass on the planet prop itself fading and disappearing, coupled with a lot of screenshake?
Stuff like this would elevate these quests tenfold into genuinely great stories that truly make you FEEL like you're helping fight back against the Rockpox. Being able to see cinematic setpieces of it slowly dying and withering away would be fantastic, but right now, it just feels very... Flat. Like, woo. Mission Control said that I helped do a thing. I don't feel like I was *part* of helping fix the corruption. I feel like he just spouted a voice line at me, but literally.
