Since they play into each other, with Season 5 being a "Prelude", I have some questions about how that works and what that means.
I'd love to hear from people who have sources for their information on how this works, in particular:
- As a "prelude", does that mean that Deep Rock Galactic Season 5 will have features and mentions of another game, and I have to buy a new title to understand what's going on in one I already own?
- By (what seems to be) treating an entire season of DRG as advertising space, after TWO seasons of Rockpox and anti-badass, anti-tenacious, anti-mercenary, anti-mining, anti-saluting maid simulator gameplay, has DRG become a playable ad platform for other games? (I should note that I am absolutely not interested in that.)
- Will I have items or rewards that I am locked out of in Season 5 if I don't buy Rogue Core?
- With the extended duration of a mechanic in DRG (rockpox) being contested as unfun by a significant number of people, do you feel it is respectful of the player base to drag that out so you can spend the next season advertising another game instead of content?
I am... concerned.
These moves lately, with the cellphone app endorsements and now a "prelude" season that isn't clearly defined (more openly developed, I think it was referred to as), these are starting to look like frantic and scattered energies, while honestly feeling like rockpox-ridden season 4 was a "we don't care about DRG anymore, let's get a new game out there to sell" move.
It does not smack of the GSG transparency and engagement with the community that we had before season 1, or through season 2. It feels like you could have told us back in Season 3 that you were redirecting your attentions and didn't care about season 4.
So, GSG. What's the scoop. What does Season 5 being a "Prelude" mean, in your "more open development" terms?
