[2023] Fishing Rods?

I haven't noticed any other mentions since the update, and I know fishing rods were always pretty much useless before, but seeing that they made them pretty noticeable in the trailer and that there is an entire fishing trawler now, is anybody else still having trouble with fishing rods? I can't figure out anyway to make it work still (Haven't gotten to test on an actual trawler yet). Seems silly that they wouldn't have fixed the fishing stuff since water stuff was such a big part of this update.
