I am currently setting up a server where I want to start with a town and a currency, so we can start with a basic economy already. Problem now is, that as a citizen of said town, it is not possible to place your claim stakes outside of the town's influence area. Is there any way to increase the influence radius or disable this limitation?

The influence is increased by gaining culture through pictures and reputation and to some degree public bathrooms, this system will be expanded with more community centric activity options later on. You can configure the base influence in Settlements.eco as well if you just want to increase the base influence. You cannot claim outside of influence, that only works with legacy governments and SettlementsEnabled = false in Feature.eco. Note that a world that at any point had Settlements enabled cannot turn it off, one needs to create a new world for that.

Try the dresser for that, I think I saw it in there

That is correct. The avatar you configured in main menu only determines the avatar at joining, further changes in main menu will not change it on servers you already joined.

public bathrooms? Interesting lol. Do you have a link to any guide or video that will help us get an in-depth understanding of influence acquisition? Thanks!

We don't have any specific guides, some of the developer streams may help and there should be some YouTube content around in the future as well, I guess Oearth may make a video on it.

Can you explain how influence works with reputation and the bathrooms? How are they built and how much reputations grants influence? How do I get reputation for our town?

That depends on the settings of the specific server. The general way it works is that for every X culture you gain 50% towards the maximum influence, e.g. a diminishing return, as you always get another 50% of the remaining span of influence you can still achieve.

Bathrooms give direct culture points instead of housing points when used on cultural deeds, though that is limited.

The main way is to make museums with pictures and get them rated by other players. Reputation from players in the own settlement does not contribute much to culture, you'll need people from outside.
