I checked the wiki about iron ore and it says:
> It appears to be most abundant in the Desert biome, about 25 blocks below the surface
Does this means below sea level or do I have to know the terrain height above me ?
I'm digging in a mountainous area so the different between "below sea level" and "below surface" is quite significative.
External link →It's based on naturally generated terrain level, e.g. the ore is higher up where there are hills above it and follows the wave pattern of the terrain. Sea level plays no role.
Down bottom right near Minimap is the coordinates you are at. When on map it shows centre of map as the location
Note the wiki has not been updated to 10.0 as it is a work in progress so not sure how accurate the ore spawn levels are. It is noted in the 10.0 notes that ore will generate in veins where it used to be chunks
There were barely any changes to where they spawn, just how.
