Please read my comment above yours, it is not correct that it is 100% passive. A server owner can change the config so you can earn actively character xp by crafting and mining, chopping wood etc. as long as these related skills are not at level 7.

We're not recommending to do that, though, especially on multiplayer servers. Owner should state such a change :)
