Elite not opening via steam

Hi all

Cant seem to get the game to open. I launch via steam, it opens the launcher, I click play and nothing else opens.

I validated game files in steam, and in the launcher. Some Norton thing did pop up about elite not being safe due to some certificate or something...could that be preventing it from opening?
