[2021] Cant start the game (Steam)

Hi all,

i got an E:D Steam Key 6 years ago. As several steam games it didnt had attention till a few days ago when I was able to get an Occulus Rift pretty cheap :)

So I wanted to fire it up. After the succesful install I waas promted to login into a frontier account which I didnt had. So i registered, linked my Frontier Account with my Steam Account and got a message that the launcher needs to update.

Since then I was not able to start the game. If I start E:D from my steam library I get the same Update message again. I set the update to priority but nothing is working. If I start the launcher directly via the directory and try to login i get the messagen that I first need to purchase E:D.

So what to do? Anyone an idea?
