We have 2 laptops in my house playing Elite Dangerous. A new Dell XPS 15 OLED and a Surface Laptop Studio.

Both have RTX 3050 Ti GPUs, both have goofy high screen resolutions. Tried running both at exactly the same settings and with the same GPU drivers.

Game has been fine on both, but in the last few days the XPS 15 started getting some weird screen tearing or visual artifacts that looks like a horizontal line across the screen about 20% up from the bottom. Like that lower section is just rendering a frame behind the upper section. Most obvious during mouse look mode.

My guess is vsync is not working for some reason. Steam overlay is off. We tried reducing resolution to ensure the machine can thoroughly exceed 60fps, frame rate cap on or off, and all the vsync options in Nvidia control panel. Nothing solves it EXCEPT:

A) Running in windowed mode, but that introduces a bunch of stuttering.

B) Running at native resolution, but the 3050 Ti isn't quite able to maintain 60fps so it feels a little janky.

Any suggestions how to fix this?
