Despite having a FREE release cost, the game will not let me pay the impound fee to get my ship back. When I click confirm, it kicks me out of the menu and nothing happens. Been trying to get it back now for an hour.

Just for clarity, there's a known bug with remote payment of the impound fee at present (which should be possible as of U15). If you see zero cost, there's a problem : ( The fee can still be paid as expected though either direct from the prison vessel at the shipyard terminal, or when you are present in the same station as the impounded ship (provided a shipyard service is available).
We'll hopefully have the bug resolved soon.

Hey, sorry to resurrect the thread, but I just encountered this error.
I was incarcerated at the Sepulchre. I saw that my ship was impounded, and I was given the option to free it for 0 credits. Although my 'payment' was accepted, nothing changed, and when I accessed the terminal again it again stated that my ship was impounded. (I tried this a few times, to no avail.) I thought I'd try to get a different ship, but I wasn't given the option to select another.
I hired a shuttle to try and get to my ship by another means. When I checked the galaxy map, it said that my ship was on the planet where I died. So I went to the settlement I died at.
On arrival, I went to where my ship had been parked. By this point I knew something was wrong so it didn't seem like a big deal that it wasn't there. When the shuttle left, however, I noticed that I could recall my ship, so I did. When it landed, I tried to board, and the game crashed.
Now I'm unable to board it unless I'm in an SRV. The blue cylinder widget just doesn't appear at all. I can't recharge from it, either, if that matters. I was only able to get into the ship by suffocating myself and respawning.
EDIT: Not complaining. You have an enormous product with a lot of moving parts. I've enjoyed it very much so far. Just trying to help resolve the issue since as a developer myself, I know that more information usually helps.
Have been seeing a few cases where the ship is left floating about in the system rather than getting ported to the detention vessel, and that's what this sounds like.
You'll need to raise a support ticket with us so we can move the ship to a dock. Sorry about that!
