[2022] Why can’t I do a planetary scan job?

I have scanned the nav beacon, flown to the mission location planetside, landed, got in my srv, and am up next to the data point in my turret mode looking at it it and my data link scanner won’t do activate. Tried it in every c*ckpit mode and fire group I can think of. Somewhat new player here, so have I missed a step or certain control, or is this some sort of bug? I’ve tried several of these and I can’t ever get them done. Please help!
