[2022] galaxy map just stops the game

every time i try opening the galaxy map, it doesnt open it and it just freezes my game and i cant do anything so i have to close my app and restart it, but it doesnt do anything and just keeps doing this. anyone know a fix?

this is on pc, i have a 1660s while running it at high graphics, and have even tried switching it down to mid but nothing changes.
