Having given Elite a break early on in Odyssey due to poor performance, I decided to come back to at least the ship side of things for a while. I play in Odyssey because most of my friends do, and while Horizons still runs just fine, I cannot get good framerates in Odyssey while flying my ship, other than in supercruise.
Whenever I'm in a station, resource site, nav beacon, or anywhere with other ships, my framerate is consistently mid-20's. When a friend joins the instance, it drops to the teens.
My hardware is powerful enough (2080, i9 9900k) and more powerful than friends' hardware, yet they see solid 60's in the same situation.
What gives? Changing graphics anywhere from low to ultra makes literally no difference, I've tried all the fixes I could find online (deleting graphics folder, etc, even did a full clean install) but I just can't get any framerate improvement.
Anyone had this and fixed it? Or is my PC somehow just cursed?
