I clicked on the download link for ED (not Odyssey) on the frontier store, then ran the installer and now it's working. It shows the right version on the lower left, and news, etc when scrolling down. So I'd say the primary issue was fixed and news are now shown, but if the launcher was supposed to auto update or download and update, that part is broken.


Aye, one thing at a time with this one. Gently gently.

So it should download itself but if it isn't this time around and there's something in your downloads to help it along then definitely give that a go. I really hope for you all this is THE time. We're looking into why it's been such a different experience between players and internal.

Ahh ok yeah that's been relayed separately. Just really want to make sure this primary issue is resolved first, with the live content.

I agree. It isn't, though. It's 6920. The launcher still displays 6920 and the Details tab of the download itself says 6920. Edge, Chrome and Opera all download version 6920.

Downloaded from the store.

First improvement was it didn't upset security this time.

Scroll bar now shows there is more to see.

And the adverts and news are back, it would have been nice to get the adverts first as I don't read much news.

Locking this hefty door one last time now the original issue is resolved.
It's been thoroughly noted the frustration around lack of auto-download for the launcher and some issues around the download being incorrect via 'Products'.
These have all been passed forward for you.

I'll have to wait until this evening to try again so hopefully the launcher will call for an update rather than have to go to the store.


I think you might be disappointed on this front I'm afraid as we've only tackled the main issue and not the auto download thing, which has been passed on to the team.

Greetings Commanders!

Today we will be applying a fix for a previously acknowledged issue, whereby Frontier standalone launcher users were unable to scroll for additional content.

The fix will be deployed from around 11am and will be applied to all launcher versions, including "storefront" launchers (Steam, Epic, Oculus).
This will take the form of a download prompt when available.

EDIT : With this fix you may need to install the latest from http://hosting.zaonce.net/elite/Client-Installer.exe to force the download.

If I may suggest, is not the inability to scroll for content a little unimportant compared to the launcher, at least for some Commanders, not actually being able to launch Elite? With no other changes, the problem I displayed here will be still present, with a 10–15-minute wait followed with this problem:




The Imperial Navy mathematics department established a work-around based on a clue here:


Proper function aside, applying those options bypassed the above problem for now, although I am quite sure that those maintaining the new Launcher would prefer that problem not to be the case. I do not actually reach the stage of being able to enjoy the scrolling for content!

There were a few other problems reported there earlier as well; mine was but one.

I've got three installations, running under different windows users. Steam and Epic downloaded the new version and are running ok with scrolling (it looks great, by the way), but the FDev standalone version just shows the [ATTACH type="full" alt="1690456334279.png"]362166[/ATTACH] with no prompt to download or anything else.


Yep thank you yianniv! This was picked up several reports ago, as mentioned and is with the team.
Apologies all for the issue here.
