[2023] login failure, the game failed to communicate with the authentication server error message.

wanted to try this game again, see if it got any better, cant login. restarted steam and my computer multiple times and nothing. i tried logging out of the launcher and into my frontier account thats linked to my steam account and that didnt work. on the launcher it says the server status is fine and i cant find anything about them rolling out an update today or doing maintenance. i have validated the files, i have a stable internet connection and am not using a vpn. i dont know why this is happening and i feel i was fairly thorough with trying to fix it but i dont remember ed being a very good game when i played it and this is about what i expected. is there some black magic BS you have to do to get the game to run now? also i dont have odyssey, just horizons.
