[2022] Can't launch ED in Steam or through game files.

If I launch ED through Steam it tells me that an update is required and to close the launcher. I followed the instructions but I don't think there is any update.

I saw some people say that they can launch the game through EDlaunch.exe. Doing that allows me to open the launcher without getting the update message. But if I log in it tells me I need to purchase/redeem the game.

I am at a complete loss. I have already tried reinstalling the whole game.
