[2021] ED Steam "Update Required" error

So I'm trying to launch the game using Steam, but every time the launcher opens, I get an error that the game needs to be updated. The thing is, there isn't an update in Steam, even if I follow the instructions to a T. I've done quite literally everything I can think of, including a full system reset (wiping my drives and downloading a fresh copy of windows).

Worth noting, when I try to run the EDLaunch.exe from my directory, it makes me log in, give a verification code, then tells me to buy a copy of the game. It doesn't say anything about an update, it just locks me out.

Is anyone else having these issues and/or know how to unf*ck whatever is going on?
