[2021] How do I make my free Epic account use my Steam install?

My main is Steam, I have an epic account from the free promotion. My Windows machine literally just has enough room for one copy of ED, can I install epic and it’s ED launcher and have the epic launcher use the Steam downloaded files?

Hey CMDR,

It is not possible to use the Steam install of the game with Epic. If you wish to play from both Steam and Epic, you'd need to have 2 installs of the game.
